Job overview
An opportunity has arisen to join The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust as a Band 6 Production Manager based at their decontamination facility in Enfield,Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:00.
Flexibility is a must for this role as there may be times when your hours will need to be adjusted to meet the needs of our customer . You will receive an enhancement of pay for working weekends/unsociable hours when required.
The role is to focus primarily on the delivery of production performance and continuous improvement relating to decontamination services delivered for the Great Ormond Street Hospital contract.
This Production Manager role will proactively manage the production of a team of technicians, team leaders and supervisors ensure safe and efficient delivery of the services ensuring that key performance indicators associated with the customer contract are met.
The Production Manager will play a key role in regular customer communication and engagement through various remote, virtual and face to face meetings. Whilst based at the decontamination facility in Enfield, this role can involve offsite meetings at the customer locations.
Overall, the unit facilitates the centralisation of all sterilisation and decontamination services for our trust, NHS and Private Hospitals. The unit has the capacity to process over 14 million surgical instruments and 140,000 flexible endoscopes a year.
Main duties of the job
• Focus primarily on delivery of production performance and to drive continuous improvement initiatives across all areas of the sterile services operation specifically relating to the Great Ormond Street Hospital contract.
• Manage the production of the department and to be responsible for all production, quality, and management of the sterile services team.
• Ensure that items are processed in a timely manner to meet the requirements of customers and fulfill the requirements of the regulations, guidelines, and quality as specified in the Decontamination Services Quality Management System.
• To be part of the senior management team, providing input and cover for other members of the team as and when required.

- Degree or equivalent experience.
Desirable criteria
- Member of the Institute of Decontamination Services (IDSC).
- City & Guilds 229515 Certificate - Management of the Decontamination Process
- NVQ Level 2 Business Administration.
- NVQ Level 3 Management.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience working within Sterile Services.
- Experience of communicating and managing complaints from customers, suppliers and staff
- Experience of managing large teams.
Desirable criteria
- Production management experience; ability to schedule production effectively.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Technical knowledge of re-usable medical devices
- Current knowledge of legislation standards, guidance and practices related to decontamination of medical devices, including but not limited to: BS EN ISO 13485:2016 and the MDD 92/43/EEC
