Detailed job description and main responsibilities
• To receive and register patient attending outpatient.
• To perform clinical tasks appropriate to level of training and competencies e.g. Vital signs
• To act as a chaperone as required by Clinicians and Patients.
• To assist Clinicians with routine medical procedures, examinations and document clinical tasks such as chaperoning and consent.
• To report any concern to nurse in charge.
• To assist in maintaining the cleanliness and serviceability of Outpatient facilities and equipment's, arrange for maintenance as and when required
• To ensure patients are made aware of any delays in clinics.
• To ensure all duties are carried out safely and to a high standard.

Person specification

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Care Certificate or City and Guilds 3 or NVQ 3 or BTEC National Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Level 2 Functional skills in English and Maths; GCSE A* - C or 4 - 9
  • Completion of Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support (that maps to the Apprenticeship Standard for Senior Health Care Support Worker)
  • Willingness to successfully complete the level 3 apprenticeship and QCF as identified by department (or equivalent qualification) within 12 months of employment

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Understands the role of a Senior Healthcare Support Worker
  • Understands and committed to a caring approach to patients & relatives

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience as a Band 2 HCA
  • Experience of time management and prioritising work
  • Team working
