AWS Solutions Architect

About the Job you are considering

We are seeking a hands-on AWS Solutions Architect preferably with strong Commercial Insurance experience to join us as a Tech Lead You will work alongside other leads to drive the architectural vision for the Underwriting Policies domain
This is not just a diagramming role we are Hands-on technologists You must be able to understand technology integrated across many different external teams dive into existing code validate design assumptions and formulate strategies for change and improvement You will coach offshore development and DevOps teams to deliver on these strategies while leading by example
In this role you will be responsible for the Discovery phase part of the defined Engagement Model of the software lifecycle taking vague business requirements identifying the technical path forward navigating the Architecture Review Board ARB and handing off a shovel ready architectural blueprint to delivery teams.

The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your Role

Architectural Discovery Strategy

Lead technical discovery for complex underwriting initiatives bridging the gap between Business Analysts Dependency Management and Engineering
Align with North Star enterprise architectures that balance immediate business needs with long term enterprise standards
Navigate the LII Architecture Review Board ARB process presenting designs and securing approval for patterns technologies and integration strategies
Handson Design Prototyping
Design and prototype cloud native solutions on AWS specifically leveraging Serverless technologies Lambda Step Functions DynamoDB API Gateway
Write Infrastructure as Code IaC using AWS CDK both Python and TypeScript to prove out concepts and create standardized artifacts for delivery teams
Design event driven integration patterns hubandspoke using our internal orchestration and eventing platforms
Demonstrate Tech Lead knowledge and the ability to coach offshore teams on AWS Observability Python and TypeScript best practices
Governance Standards
Ensure solutions comply with our Disaster Recovery standards
Enforce security best practices including Auth0 for identity management and rigorous secrets management
Collaborate with DevOps to ensure architectural designs are compatible with GitHub Actions pipelines and our internal developer platform CloudForge
Create Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans aligned with LM enterprise architecture and governance
Produce Threat Models and other security assessments aligned with LM enterprise architecture and governance
Assess data compliance and personal Information across different regulatory regions
Operate and Support Live Production Systems
We operate following DevOps principles You build it you run it You will be expected to lead the support of systems in production
Understand production security mechanisms and protocols over a multicloud architecture composed of AWS Azure and GCP
Ensure observability best practices and regulatory compliance eg EU DORA using cloud tools like Datadog Splunk and BigPanda
Provide support during production incidents investigations and timely fixes

Your Skills:
Must hold at least the AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification.
Ability to articulate and defend the core concepts of this certification during an interview.
