Audit Senior Associate

CBRE is looking for an Audit Senior Associate to join our CBRE's Financial Risk Management (FRM) team. We are looking for a qualified accountant with experience in Journal Entry Testing and technical accounting experience.

This is a new role in FRM and represents a fantastic opportunity to join a motivated, dynamic, and truly international team as a key contributor in the financial reporting arm of the team and assisting more widely with projects as they arise.

Reporting to the Senior Manager - FRM Financial Reporting, you will assist with critical activities for internal control over financial reporting. They will contribute to FRM activities in close cooperation with Technical Accounting, Controllership, Business Finance, and other stakeholders. You will be reporting to internal and external stakeholders on risks associated with financial reporting, technical accounting considerations and assumptions, and associated internal controls.

CBRE's Financial Risk Management (FRM) function is responsible for monitoring financial internal controls; including advising on projects that impact financial reporting. As the regulatory environment changes, the FRM function strives to be agile to respond to emerging financial risks and related regulatory compliance. Currently the FRM function is expanding, and this is a unique opportunity to join a global organization and deliver complex and large projects across various geographies and segments.

What you'll do

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Undertaking key quarterly assurance activities including but not limited to:

o Journal Entry Testing

o SAB99 Review and Analysis

o S302 Certification Reviews

o Flux Analyses

o KPI / KRI Reviews

- Act as a subject matter expert for FRM on technical accounting considerations.

- Assist with the review of new transactions (changes to standards, M&A, new products / services etc.) to provide financial technical and operational accounting advice to key stakeholders.

- Assist with the preparation and / or review of technical accounting policy papers for new or judgmental transactions to ensure there is robust support for key-decisions.

- Assist stakeholders with confirming the process to apply technical accounting considerations 'in-life', and any ongoing considerations for reporting (e.g., changes in assumptions/ongoing assessments).

- Review the processes implemented to support financial reporting for high-risk areas to ensure controls are in place to ensure the completeness and accuracy of reporting in line with the accounting assessment.

- Create risk assessments associated with key and / or judgmental technical assessments to ensure all associated material risks to financial reporting are identified and appropriately controlled.

- Utilize a risk-based approach to analyze key financial reporting processes, including the implementation and utilization of emerging technologies, leveraging from technical accounting and industry experience.

- Work with the business to assess any items arising from assurance activities to confirm planned remedial activity to address this, and then track these items for completion.

- Working with the FRM Senior Director to assist with the ongoing development of automation of assurance activities through tools such as Nexus.

- Provide independent and objective assurance to management for the design and operating effectiveness (where applicable) of controls associated with technical accounting matters.

- Foster a long-term results-orientated and business partner mindset with internal stakeholders.

- Facilitate a work environment that fosters and supports ethical decision-making and actions in accordance with CBRE's core values.

- Ensure adherence to principles, policies, and standards, and improves quality and process reliability in a cost-effective manner.

- Participate in ad hoc requests and special projects as required by the FRM leadership team.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

Specific experience and qualifications will include, but not be limited to the following:

- Minimum of 3 years expertise in the field of accounting and auditing (Big 4 experience preferred) with extensive experience in technical accounting matters.

- Detailed experience of US GAAP preferred, however experience and knowledge of equivalent frameworks (e.g., IFRS) and a willingness to upskill in US GAAP will be considered.

- Extensive experience of documenting and reviewing technical accounting assessments in accordance with US GAAP (or equivalent). Key areas include but are not limited to: contract accounting & revenue recognition, leasing, EMIs and cashflow.

- Extensive knowledge of internal control and risk management practices and standards, and ability to perform detailed risk assessments.

- Experience of applying technical accounting matters in industry is preferred.

- Strong analytical capabilities, process improvement and organization skills; excellent communication and presentation skills.

- Demonstrated knowledge of internal controls frameworks (i.e., SOX, COSO, COBIT, NIST CSF, ITIL, etc.), and applicable regulatory requirements.

- A team player, with the ability to multi-task, work independently and as part of a team whilst maintaining a positive and professional attitude.

- Proven and demonstrated leadership ability, including management of transformation projects preferred.

- High ethical standards with ability to handle confidential / sensitive issues and information with the highest degree of professional responsibility.
