Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This is an exciting nonclinical opportunity to gain valuable experience of working in an NHS Safeguarding Team to assist in safeguarding activities. This includes auditing, design and formatting of materials to support team projects and assisting with quality improvement projects.

Your work will contribute to improving safeguarding processes in the trust. There is an option of flexible working between the base and home.

Under supervision and guidance from the placement supervisor to perform the following tasks-

  • To help in the analysis of data around children's social care referrals, training and safeguarding activities
  • To identify emerging themes from audits/evaluations completed and feedback to the placement supervisor
  • To assist in completing quality assurance reports
  • To support with developing materials to promote the safeguarding agenda
  • Any other clerical duties as may be required by the team
  • To comply with Trust policies regarding confidentiality at all times
  • Able to commit to regular hours of work

Any additional information:

  • Volunteer must have previous experience of IT
  • Should be a proficient user of Microsoft Word and Excel, knowledge of other software would be beneficial.
  • Some experience of research methodologies would be beneficial
  • Experience of using graphs and charts would be useful
  • Must be willing to undergo training to use patient recording system (RiO)
  • Should have good communication skills and of a polite and friendly nature
  • The volunteer will be hearing about and handling information of a sensitive nature which can be traumatising, particularly for those who have/are experiencing any form of abuse. Should the volunteer be aware of any potential risks please do carefully consider if this position is suitable.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
