Associate / Senior Associate - Financial, Casualty & Political Risk
The Role:
We are seeking a talented and commercially minded Senior Associate to join our Financial, Casualty & Political Risk team in London. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex and high-profile matters for insurers, reinsurers, financial institutions, and multinational clients.
The successful candidate will play a key role in advising on a broad range of contentious and advisory matters, including claims arising from warranties and indemnity (W&I) and other transaction liability insurance policies, political risk coverage, and financial lines policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advising insurers and reinsurers on coverage issues and disputes across financial lines and political risk policies.
- Handling complex warranties & indemnity (W&I) insurance claims, including policy interpretation, coverage analysis, and litigation or arbitration strategy.
- Managing high-value and cross-border disputes involving casualty and financial risks.
- Providing strategic advice to clients throughout the lifecycle of claims and disputes.
- Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers within the team.
- Supporting business development initiatives and contributing to the growth of the practice.
Requirements:
- 3+ years' PQE with strong experience in insurance disputes or financial lines work.
- Demonstrable experience advising on W&I insurance policy claims or disputes.
- Experience with political risk, financial lines, or casualty claims is highly desirable.
- Strong litigation, analytical, and drafting skills.
- Experience working with insurer clients and understanding their commercial priorities.
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
