The Role

This role sits within the life sciences team, a dynamic and cross functional group taking on multiple challenges across the range of the therapeutic development cycle - from enabling therapeutic target discovery to using genetic risk prediction for the optimization of clinical trial design.

The Associate Medical Director is a senior team member, who leads and contributes to these efforts by:

  • Developing innovative and rigorous scientific strategies needed to address key challenges
  • Independently executing and adapting research plans to deliver high-quality scientific outputs
  • Effectively communicate findings to both internal and external stakeholders across a range of seniority levels and functions (e.g. Science, Medical, Commercial, Technology)
  • In this role, you'll bring experience across a broad field of computational biology to contribute to multiple domains within our Company (e.g., genomic risk prediction approaches such as PRS; application of core approaches such as GWAS/colocalization for pharmaceutical objectives).

The Associate Medical Director role blends innovative scientific thinking with clinical/medical knowledge. The post-holder will also contribute to the broader medical team, and will be a key strategic role at the interface of medical and science in our broader life-sciences strategy.

What you will need:-

  • Expertise in statistical genetics, computational biology, genetic epidemiology with experience in applications relevant to the life sciences (e.g., genetic risk prediction to inform clinical trial enrollment, genetics for target discovery & validation)
  • Effective communication skills to enable understanding and foster engagement with both internal and external stakeholders across a range of seniority levels (written and/or presentations)
  • Ability to lead for Genomics in interactions with 3rd parties, inc. ability to navigate dialogue to reach desired end goals
  • MD/Phd or PHD educated, with a track record of peer reviewed publications
  • Experience in performing foundational genetic association analyses (e.g., GWAS; PRS)

Non-essential experience that would be useful

  • Experience utilizing a broad array of additional statistical genetic approaches (e.g., colocalization; fine-mapping; Mendelian Randomization) to drive insights
  • Experience within the life sciences industry (e.g., pharmaceutical, biotech industry)
