ABOUT THE JOB

Gunzilla Games are looking to recruit an Associate Game Director to work with our Game Director in achieving the strategic design objectives on our game OTG (Off The Grid), an all-new AAA Battle Royale 2.0 third person shooter, due for release on PlayStation®5, Xbox® Series X|S and PC

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the Game Director and team leadership to set the overall vision and direction for the project.
  • Direct the design team in creating epic game experiences that align with the vision.
  • Work with the Game Director to ensure the game design meets the established vision.
  • Help define the best design methods for the project and inform the design team in collaboration with the director.
  • Communicate quality and content expectations regularly to the design team to ensure systems consider constraints and create the optimal user experience for target players.
  • Coordinate first-level validations for produced elements based on the game designer's vision and validate data to guide the development of game systems and levels.
  • Translate rational game design elements into usable elements for level designers.
  • Support the Level Design Lead in deploying game design elements into operable elements for level designers.
  • Harmonize design across all sites for multi-studio projects and assist with tasks assigned to other design teams when applicable.
  • Maintain an awareness of the state of the game and community feedback to influence direction and prioritization.
  • Maintain communication with the community through forum posts, press announcements, interviews, and public appearances.
  • Establish and maintain a creative environment, resolve personnel challenges, and foster a culture of success.
  • Coach and guide creative team members toward achieving their career goals.
  • Perform all other related tasks as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 6 years of experience as a game designer or in a relevant role, including experience in a leadership capacity.
  • Proven ability to guide and inspire large development teams and analyze designs at a project level.
  • Experience supervising a team of game designers is an asset.
  • Experience with multiple shipped AAA titles in a leadership role is highly preferred.
  • Strong client/user focus with a deep understanding of player needs and expectations.
  • Creativity and the ability to foster innovative ideas within the team.
  • Positive leadership and influence, with the ability to build consensus and communicate a vision.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to coach and mentor employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Unrelenting self-motivation and initiative to drive projects forward.
