Job Description

Our Town Planning Practice is recruiting an experienced Associate Director to lead infrastructure planning projects across the UK. As a national team, we are flexible in terms of base office location across our offices in Leeds, Chesterfield, Nottingham, Manchester, Birmingham, Basingstoke, London and Bristol.

PLANNING PRACTICE AT AECOM

We operate as a national town planning team delivering major infrastructure projects across all sectors but with a particular focus on the energy transition. You will work with leading experts in a vast array of disciplines in your local office and nationally, helping to fast-track your career development.

We work flexibly, UK-wide, delivering much of our work remotely whilst benefitting from a strong planning team culture in one of our 11 main UK offices.

You will contribute to the growth of the planning practice, for example by taking responsibility for innovation initiatives, business development, team management, quality and collaboration.

You will be able to work on a range of prestigious infrastructure projects for our clients in the energy transition, rail, and water development sectors, as well as a range of regional / local developments. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be joining a market leading, experienced infrastructure planning team and will, be given the following responsibilities.

  • Leading development consent applications for major infrastructure projects.
  • Leading other development planning work and providing authoritative planning advice to colleagues and clients.
  • Collaborative working, devising and managing programmes and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Leading business development activities and bids for major projects.
  • Leading and managing projects from opportunity to delivery, including bid delivery, risk and budget management, change control, quality management and health and safety leadership.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven track record of leading successful development consent applications under the Town and County Planning Act 1990 and Planning Act 2008.
  • Relevant degree and full Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or an equivalent professional town planning organisation.
  • A thorough understanding of Environmental Impact Assessment and its relationship with the development consent process.
  • Proven work winner and full project life cycle project management experience.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and deliver high quality work to-programme and within budget.
  • Client and colleague relationship focused, with good interpersonal skills and collaborative working approach.
  • Excellent report drafting skills and the ability to write clearly, concisely and confidently.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office suite of programmes.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working in the private sector in multi-disciplinary design, delivery and consents team environments.
  • Experience working on large and / or complex development projects, especially in the energy transition sector.
  • Experience of the Transport and Works Act 1992 consenting regime.
