Your new role, what's involved?

The Roads Drainage Lead at Principal Engineer/Associate grade is responsible for

  • Providing roads drainage advice for a wide range of infrastructure projects
  • Overseeing the integrated design of drainage on specific projects
  • Developing the capability of others in the design of roads drainage
  • Contributing to business development to secure new opportunities in the provision of drainage design
  • Providing Technical support to bids

YOUR TEAM

  • The Scotland Roads Team forms part of WSP's Transport and Infrastructure business. The team focus on the delivery of projects across Scotland and Ireland, as well as providing support to UK major projects and programmes
  • Our major clients include Transport Scotland and various Local Authorities and Contractors.
  • You can expect opportunities to deliver effective drainage infrastructure for roads both for large schemes, local improvements and associated with commercial and housing developments.
  • Reporting to a Technical Director you will oversee drainage design work across our roads projects, providing advice and guidance in your area of expertise.
  • You will have opportunities both to share and develop your expertise with the Scotland and Ireland Roads team but also more widely through the WSP Technical Leadership Group
  • You can be based in any of our three Scottish offices, Glasgow, Edinburgh or Perth, with the opportunity to take advantage of our hybrid working policy.

    • ensuring that the drainage of the future is fit for purpose
    • maximising use of Sustainable Drainage Systems
    • reducing current flood risk and pollution
    • inspiring the next generation of drainage engineers

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Membership of an appropriate Engineering Institution at Chartered level
  • in-depth knowledge and experience of current drainage legislation and guidance relevant to Scotland and Ireland schemes.
  • Demonstrable expertise in road drainage with application of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works and relevant SUDS design guidance
  • Candidates should be proficient in relevant drainage design software including Causeway Flow
