Position Description
QIAGEN Manchester is a world leading centre for molecular diagnostic applications, expanding and enhancing the delivery of life improving diagnostic systems for existing and emerging medical needs focusing on the development of precision diagnostics to support the development and commercialization of therapeutics in partnership with pharmaceutical companies.
Our team of Project Managers work within our global Partnering for Precision Diagnostics (PPD) organization with cross-functional teams, leading and driving projects to develop QIAGEN diagnostics platforms and Companion Diagnostics assays via contracts with our Pharma Partners. Within QIAGEN, project management is recognized as a professional career pathway in its own right, reporting directly into the PPD portfolio.
We are now seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team at Associate Director level.
As a senior member of the Project Management team this role will require the successful candidate to work with a high degree of autonomy, exhibiting entrepreneurial competencies required to manage dynamic and complex projects, the success of which are linked directly to the success of our Pharma Partners therapeutic. Decision making, risk taking and strategic thinking will be required to ensure that projects are delivered on time and meet the fiscal targets of the PPD business.
While this role does not come with line management responsibility, as a senior member of the PPD Project Management team, the successful candidate will be expected to provide project and process guidance and support to other members of the team and supporting functions.
The role will include goals for the continued process improvement of Pharma project management, with a focus on efficiency.
Key responsibilities:
- Work within a matrix organization to manage cross-divisional product development projects with a business-focused mindset.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project goals are met (time, budget, quality) and project documentation and reporting is completed to a high standard.
- Apply project management methods and tools in accordance with QIAGEN standards and other regulatory standards as applicable.
- Identify and escalate critical issues in a timely manner, evaluate risks, and define risk mitigation plans.
Position Requirements
- Degree education, or equivalent experience, within a Life Science subject. Project management qualifications e.g. PMPĀ®, PRINCE2, APMP would be advantageous but are not essential.
- Employment experience within product development of IVDs, molecular diagnostics or medical devices is essential.
- A proven track record in project management in a regulated environment.
- Significant experience working with cross-divisional teams and the ability to build effective relationships both internally and externally.
- Desirable: familiarity with Design Controls for the development of medical devices - 21CFR820, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971.
