Our Risk Management team enables responsible growth through close collaboration with the business to protect EY from the risks that arise from its professional practice. The team works with the business to identify, monitor and manage EY's risk, providing coordinated advice and assistance on independence, conflicts, compliance, regulatory, policy, security and risk management issues, as well as effectively managing ethics-related claims and queries. Through oversight of key risk processes, Risk Management helps to minimize the threat of litigation, avoid regulatory enforcement and limit damage to our reputation. Under Vision 2020, our Risk Management team is strategically focused on risk; embedding risk discussions into business planning activities at all levels of the organization.

The opportunity

The volume and complexity of legal and regulatory requirements EY is required to meet continues to grow and as a result the quality of EY policies is required to continually improve. The current opportunity to join the Executive Risk Management (RM) Policy team provides the successful candidate an opportunity to focus on enhancing policy content and implementing change management plans based on the organizational impact of new and refreshed policies. The role also offers the successful candidate the opportunity to work with senior members of the Policy team as well as the Risk Management Executive more broadly to increase visibility and awareness of EY policies. The successful candidate will also work with senior leaders in Risk Management and Service Line Quality to strengthen EY policies and to build trust and integrity in the market.

Your key responsibilities

The successful candidate will focus on policy content and will maintain a high-quality policy offering which is strategic, commercially appropriate, accessible, and user-friendly.

The role involves:

  • writing necessary global Risk Management policies according to the Policy Framework and the strategic plan for policies.
  • analysing the underlying laws and regulations and related impacts on EY policy, coordinating reviews and approvals of policy drafts while adhering to the agreed policy consultation and approval protocols, updating policies in a way that future-proofs them, and advising service lines and function policy owners in aligning their policies to the Policy Framework. Supporting policy governance across EY and maintaining trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across the organisation.
  • working with the Policy Leader and Policy Director to prepare and deliver information, training, and guidance to the business on EY policies, contributing to efforts to raise awareness and understanding by Partners and Staff on key policy matters.
  • Working with the operational members of the policy team to develop tools and solutions that support policy awareness, understanding and learning.

The Policy team is a global, virtual team with members in several locations, including a core team of policy support staff based at GDS. The successful candidate may be required to travel occasionally for one-to-one and team meetings.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to synthesize complex information into clear and user-friendly written documents and communications
  • Ability to understand policy topics at a level appropriate for drafting policy, identifying policy impacts, and managing policy stakeholders
  • A strong team player, comfortable working collaboratively, virtually, and independently
  • Ability to navigate and manage a wide variety of stakeholders, with sometimes competing views
  • Ability to work in a high pace, agile environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, managing multiple priorities effectively
  • Ability to develop innovative and creating ways of raising awareness with EY Partners and Staff on policy matters

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Experience writing and implementing policies, while not compulsory, would be preferred
  • Experience in a cross-border role, successfully managing multiple complex projects at a global level
  • Good understanding of the Risk Management function, key stakeholders and influencers
  • Understanding of EY client serving professionals' challenges and goals
  • Experience working in a diverse team

Ideally, you'll also have

  • High level of influencing and networking skills
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into digestible, simplified, and user-friendly material
  • Ability to challenge views/perspectives while securing buy-in within RM and beyond

What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $129,600 to $242,400. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $155,600 to $275,500. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you'll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You'll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
