The Associate Director of Occupational Health and Clinical Wellbeing has operational responsibility for the day-to-day performance and delivery of an efficient, high quality and value for money occupational health service, in line with agreed quality standards.

The postholder works closely with the Clinical Lead, who holds specific responsibility for professional clinical matters, and the Occupational Health Consultant and Medical Staff, who holds specific regulated responsibilities for medical issues.

Main duties of the job

To ensure that the values and principles of the Trust are enacted throughout the delivery of occupational health services, both internally and outside of the Trust / NHS.

Ensure the Organisation-wide Policy for Occupational Health Services and any related policies and Standard Operating Procedures are regularly reviewed and updated in line with business need and changing legislation.

To develop, deliver and maintain high standards of evidence-based nursing practice and provide expert clinical practice advice to manager and employees.

Devise, implement, publicise, monitor and promote the Clinical Health & Wellbeing Strategy ensuring a healthy working environment for all staff.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • First level registered Nurse and maintains practice and other revalidation requirements.
  • Occupational Health qualification at degree level or equivalent with registration on part 3 of NMC register.
  • Post graduate management qualification or equivalent experience
  • Operational management training, such as change management and capacity management.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria

  • Significant experience at a senior level of managing the provision of an NHS OH service
  • Proven record of delivering effective operational services including staff management, financial management and change management and service innovation.
  • Evidence of successfully managing and developing a professional OH team.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex problems and to develop and successfully implement practical and workable solutions to address them.
  • Evidence of appropriate professional knowledge base and legislation underpinning OH&WB issues.
  • Ability to be intellectually flexible and to look beyond existing structures, ways of working, boundaries and organisations to produce more effective and innovative service delivery and partnerships

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
