Overview
Our work portfolio includes: Environment Management and Consents Support for HS2, Crossrail and Transport for London; iconic large scale property developments and urban regeneration schemes such as Barking Riverside and consents support for the construction delivery of HS2 Curzon St, Birmingham. We carry out a wide range of bespoke planning and environmental assessments - everything from air quality monitoring, Environmental Statement reviews, through to environment management and consents on large scale projects.
We are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and experienced Associate Director to work within our Environmental Management and Consents team in Birmingham (or alternatively a London location could be considered), delivering and managing projects and helping to grow our business in this area as well as to further build Temple's market presence.
The Role
The role is an Associate Director within our Infrastructure Projects and Programmes Division. You will be responsible for delivery of environmental management and consents (EM&C) for construction-phase infrastructure commissions. You will have a mix of project delivery, business development of opportunities and pursuits, and people management. You will have previous experience of EM&C on infrastructure projects, preferably with experience in the energy, rail, ports and/or water sectors. You will contribute to sector strategies and plans, notably our infrastructure delivery strategy, aligned with Temple's strategic ambitions. You will provide technical support to junior staff and the right candidate will have people management responsibilities.
Your main areas of responsibility are:
- Manage customers with consistency and curate long-term relationships.
- Manage and deliver key EM&C projects to Temple standard.
- Possess experience and knowledge of project management techniques and methodologies and a passion for project delivery, ensuring client satisfaction is achieved on time and within budget.
- Ensure cross functional collaboration on projects and prospective opportunities.
- Develop new business through existing and new relationships, seeking new opportunities.
- Contribute to and implement business plans, notably for infrastructure delivery and EM&C.
- Lead or contribute to bids for projects of all scales.
- Ensure that, in the execution of the business plan, all legislative and internal management systems protocols are met, including Health and Safety, Temple Policies, Sustainability Goals and BCorp objectives.
- You may be a project director, project manager, framework manager and/or technical lead, depending on project scale and complexity.
- Provide technical mentoring and support to less experienced colleagues.
- The right candidate may also have people management responsibilities, including performance management, team resilience and resourcing to meet project commitments.
We would expect the candidate to have specialist knowledge in one or more of the following:
- Preparation and delivery of Environment Management Plans and Consent Management Plans, Codes of Construction Practice and maintaining consents registers;
- Preparation of material to support pre- submission discussions;
- Liaison with Consenting Authorities; and Construction knowledge and background working through design;
- Ability to develop and provide consent related supporting materials such as consent briefings/handovers and consent plans;
- Construction sequencing; and Integrated Management Systems including Environment management processes.
Consultancy requires knowledge of project management techniques and methodologies. We expect all candidates to have a passion for project delivery, ensuring client satisfaction is achieved on time and within budget.
The Candidates
We expect the successful candidates will have the following:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- 10+ years plus relevant industry experience.
- Chartered professional (or working towards this).
- Specialist knowledge in infrastructure delivery/EM&C and a good general knowledge of the environmental and sustainability market.
