Job Description

Our Programme Advisory team focusses on orchestrating complex strategy, set-up and transformations for public and private sector clients enabling the successful delivery of major programmes both in the UK and internationally.

Our continued success is driving the expansion of our Controls & Performance UK team (service line, part of Programme Advisory) in London and we are seeking to recruit talented individuals, who feel their experience and capabilities could support the controls & performance transformations of our clients' programmes and organisations.

We believe that providing a successful controls & performance advisory service, is all about being able to listen, understand and help our clients uncover the root causes of their challenges to then be able to design and provide a benefit focussed solution, that harnesses the science behind the project controls functions and enables our client to gain control and assurance of their overall performance through automated actionable intelligence that facilitates effective decision making.

As an Associate Director you will get the opportunity to work across several high-profile infrastructure, real estate or natural resources projects, for both private and public clients (UK and globally), managing and driving the team to successfully deliver business transformation and controls & performance advisory services covering strategy, set-up and optimisation of specific controls & performance functions or project/programme/portfolio management offices.

As part of our Controls & Performance Advisory team you will be expected to contribute across several areas, including:

  • Manage the assessment of each client environment and their current challenges and support in utilising our structured approach to discover, deliver and implement a solution that is fit for purpose and enables the client to achieve the desired benefits and outcomes;
  • Manage the development, implementation and optimisation of PMO, integrated controls & performance, functional set-up and optimisation and digital transformation related strategies;
  • Develop and manage the design of target operating models and organisational design in the context of capital infrastructure delivery businesses, integrated controls & performance functions, PMO set-ups or digital transformation;
  • Manage the definition and write-up of reports to support findings and recommendations across various stages of client engagements;
  • Manage the delivery of workshops in a mix of virtual and face-to-face environments with Sr. (C-suite) client representatives;
  • Work within diverse and multi-disciplinary teams representing Turner & Townsend at both client sites and as well virtually;
  • Deploy and tailor established methodologies, processes, tools and systems, tailoring these to suit specific circumstances and contributing to their continuous improvement and development;
  • Drive key activities within the Programme Advisory team including internal development of transformation products and approaches;
  • Contribute to various business generation activities such as bids, proposals, etc and work closely alongside Senior Management and the wider Turner & Townsend team;
  • Contribute to marketing and social media campaigns (employee advocacy) through thought leadership, where appropriate;
  • Contribute to the technical and behavioural development of the team through coaching and mentoring;

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience and qualifications in line with the below, but we are open to enthusiastic and ambitious individuals who have high ambitions and a growth mindset keen on building a successful consultancy career within the construction industry, enabling clients to achieve successful outcomes.

  • Extensive industry experience (Master's degree or equivalent experience desirable);
  • Experience of working on major capital projects/programmes in leading positions covering one or more roles within the PMO/controls & performance environment (schedule, cost, risk, change or performance reporting) in the Infrastructure sector (Defence, Nuclear, Rail, Airport, Highways, Utilities) or similar;
  • Experience of delivering and managing complex business transformation programmmes in the construction industry;
  • Experience in strategy and set-up of target operating models and organisational design in the context of capital infrastructure delivery businesses, integrated controls & performance functions or PMO set-ups;
  • Experience with supporting capability/maturity assessments across the capital delivery businesses, PMO, controls & performance or a specific function;
  • Experience with supporting the development of controls & performance integrated processes and digital solutions used to create a 'one version of the truth' and enabling client leadership teams to make informed decision making based on actionable intelligence;
  • Experience with writing/presenting reports and ability to navigate through complex stakeholder environments and engage (as required) with C-suite level, executive client teams;
  • Computer literacy in Office 365 applications, diagramming tools such as Visio, online whiteboarding tools such as Miro, team collaboration tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams or specialist controls & performance software tools such as Oracle Primavera, PRISM, Power BI or similar;
  • APM, PMI, APMG, or similar certification or equivalent experience would be advantageous.
