We're looking for a forward-thinking Associate Director - Structural Design Engineering to join our London office. You'll take the lead on significant project packages, guide junior engineers, and help shape the future of structural engineering in the UK.
Position
The Opportunity
As an Associate Director, you'll drive the delivery of high-quality design packages, manage client relationships, and bring technical leadership across a diverse portfolio-from commercial developments to bridges and bespoke temporary works. This role is ideal for a Chartered or nearly Chartered structural engineer ready to step into a leadership role with real impact.
What You'll Be Doing
• Lead Delivery of Structural Engineering Projects from Concept through Construction
• Manage Design Packages, Fee Proposals, and Contract Documentation
• Provide Technical Direction and Mentorship to Graduate & Design Engineers
• Oversee Coordination with Civil, Geotechnical, and Other Disciplines
• Serve as a Key Client Contact and Represent Ayesa at Senior Levels
• Ensure Technical Excellence in Drawings, Specifications, and Detailed Design
• Balance Project Workloads and Meet Key Deadlines within Budget and Quality Frameworks
Requirements
What You Bring
Experience & Qualifications:
• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• ~12 years' experience delivering structural design engineering in the UK
• Chartered or nearing Chartered status (IStructE or relevant professional body)
• Strong technical track record across permanent and temporary works projects
Skills & Strengths:
• Advanced understanding of structural analysis and behaviour
• Detailed knowledge of UK Building Regulations, Eurocodes, and relevant standards
• Strong client-facing experience and communication skills
• Skilled in leading multidisciplinary collaboration and managing complex workloads
• Passion for mentoring and developing junior engineers
Bonus Points For:
• Experience across both buildings and infrastructure sectors
• Hands-on knowledge of modern design software and BIM workflows
