Job Description
We are seeking an Associate Control Manager to support coverage of our ICB Investments business.
You will be responsible for supporting the business proactively manage and address their operational risks. The role will predominately relate to Self-Directed Investments proposition and related responsibilities for the management of emerging risks as well as supporting continued expansion of the product offering and into new markets.
As an experienced controls professional within the wider International Consumer Bank (ICB) Controls team, you are at the center of keeping JPMorgan Chase strong and resilient. You help the Firm grow its business in a responsible way by anticipating new and emerging risks, and using your judgement to solve real-world challenges that impact our company, customers and communities. Job Responsibilities:
Based out of London your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Assist in the design and implementation of control frameworks to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Collaborate with Self-directed Investments product development teams to identify potential risks associated with new and existing products, and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for product development and change initiatives, ensuring that all potential risks are identified, evaluated, and addressed.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls and recommend improvements as necessary.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on control processes and risk management practices and foster proactive risk management culture across ICB.
- Contribute to the Compliance and Operational Risk Evaluation (CORE) program by focusing on four key pillars: i) Control Design & Expertise; ii) Risks & Controls Identification/Assessment; iii) Issue Management; iv) Control Governance & Reporting.
- Partnering effectively with colleagues across the firm, business, operations management, legal, compliance, risk, audit, regulators, and technology control functions to drive consistent and rigorous operational risk practices and control programs (incl. control committee reporting, risk mitigation, key risk indicators, control design, and controls performance evaluations).
- Managing a portfolio of key metrics to inform on the health of the operational risk and control environment.
- Contributing to training and other cross-departmental initiatives (e.g. awareness programs, risk expos, trainings, etc.).
Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
- Experience in Operational Risk Management gained through working within Product, Controls, Compliance or Audit within a large financial institution, regulator, consulting firm and/or retail investments manager.
- Ability to perform process walkthroughs and translate process understanding into effective risk identification and control design documentation.
- Strong acumen for risk identification and assessment, and development of effective control mechanisms that mitigate these risks.
- Experience in partnering with business and other stakeholders to manage remediation of operational risk related issues.
- Good knowledge of investment products and services - e.g. Self-Directed Investment preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in stakeholder engagement at all levels of seniority.
- Effective time management and prioritization skills.
- Knowledge of Agile with hands on experience using tools such as JIRA and Confluence
