Associate/ Associate Director

Tetra Tech is looking for a mechanically biased Associate or Associate Director to join our dynamic M&E team based in Belfast. Reporting directly into the Engineering Director, this role is key to the structure and performance of the building services team in Belfast. You would be responsible for the delivery of engineering design solutions, the management of your projects and the performance of your project team.

Your Role:

  • Provision and successful delivery of building services across a wide range of sectors including, commercial, industrial, retail, healthcare, education and leisure within both public and private domains
  • Technical and commercial management of your own projects in accordance with the client's brief and programme
  • Developing designs from conceptual through to detailed design, controlling and maintaining the quality of work
  • Undertaking calculations and verifying those of your team
  • Preparation of technical reports, specifications and scope of services
  • Developing mechanical strategies for servicing and energy strategies including plant and riser space, NZEB strategies
  • Managing and developing other Engineers
  • Estimating cost budgets
  • Developing good business and customer relations
  • Providing good project governance in accordance with Tetra Tech's policies and standards
  • Leading projects and contributing to bids and tender submissions

As we work with our clients to deliver zero and low carbon solutions and to meet the Government's 2050 net zero target, you will be expected to have the knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to work with the project team to develop and drive the sustainability agenda and low carbon design.

Your skills and attributes will include:

• Educated in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or other relevant field

• Chartered Engineer and member of relevant body

• Strong project management skills in delivering building services projects from concept through to handover

• Excellent communication and client facing skills with the confidence to manage varying client situations

• Ability to develop relationships with new and existing clients

• Understanding of commercial project management and cost control

• Ambition and drive to lead and develop a team of engineers and technicians

• High level of knowledge and experience of Mechanical Engineering and low carbon design with a key understanding of other disciplines

• Knowledge and experience of using IES software is essential with the ability to interrogate cooling and heating loads, energy models and dynamic simulations carried out by others

• Experience and knowledge of using Revit and Navisworks software. Use of MagiCAD software is desirable

• Proven ability to develop designs conscious of energy conservation, sustainability and with a knowledge basis of renewable technologies

• Willingness to travel for project work, within UK and Ireland is essential
