The Assistant Warehouse Manager is responsible for supporting the efficient and effective operation of the warehouse. This role involves overseeing the receipt, storage, and distribution of raw materials and finished goods. The Assistant Warehouse Manager works closely with the Warehouse Manager to ensure that all warehouse activities align with safety, quality, and productivity standards.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels for raw materials, packaging, and finished goods.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and coordinate with departments to resolve discrepancies.
- Support weekly and monthly stock audits, comparing data in Navision and investigating discrepancies.
Order Fulfilment:
- Supervise picking and packing processes to ensure timely and accurate order fulfilment, including production orders.
- Check quantities against planners to prevent incorrect transfers that could affect production efficiency.
- Collaborate with production to prioritize orders based on schedules and customer needs.
- Ensure quality products are transferred to production as per Taiko Product Quality standards and address any quality issues with relevant teams.
Shipping and Receiving:
- Oversee the receiving of raw materials and packaging, ensuring accurate documentation and inspection.
- Ensure the warehouse team follows goods-in procedures for incoming goods.
- Coordinate outbound shipments, ensuring proper packaging, labelling, and documentation.
- Assist with stock transfers from third-party warehouses in the Warehouse Manager's absence.
Quality Assurance:
- Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure products meet standards.
- Work with the Quality Assurance team to address any product quality issues and implement corrective actions.
Safety and Compliance:
- Maintain a safe and organized warehouse environment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Provide training on safety protocols, Navision, and traceability to ensure compliance.
- Ensure the warehouse areas are tidy and paperwork is completed accurately and on time.
- Conduct daily forklift checks in the absence of the supervisor.
Team Management:
- Assist the Warehouse Manager with staff recruitment, training, absence management, and development.
- Ensure all staff are equipped with the relevant training and tools to perform their roles.
- Provide leadership and foster a productive work environment.
- Assign daily job duties to reduce overtime and improve warehouse efficiency.
- Support the team as needed.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the warehouse.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and optimize operations.
Communication:
- Liaise with production, logistics, and quality assurance teams to ensure smooth coordination.
- Keep the Warehouse Manager informed of any challenges or issues.
- Report warehouse-related issues or concerns to the Warehouse Manager.
Additional Support:
- Assist the Warehouse Manager and Supervisor with invoice checks and daily records for approval.
- Perform any ad-hoc duties as requested by the Warehouse Manager.
