Job Title: Assistant Technical Authority – Power & Propulsion

Location: Portsmouth Broad Oak / New Malden. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Up to £58,500 depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Undertake design appraisals to ensure that design artefacts are compliant with specifications, quality and technical standards
  • Carry out specialist technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and down-selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of technical issues
  • Support Product Safety, Environmental, and Certification activities relating to Power and Propulsion; to include Hazard Reviews, Safety Reviews, and developing Certification submissions
  • Assure the development and implementation of engineering changes as required within the Power & Propulsion domain
  • Support the Zonal Review programme leading to final compartment and system approval for all Power and Propulsion owned systems and compartments
  • Ensure that applicable engineering policies and plans are known, understood and being correctly followed by the Power & Propulsion delivery team
  • Support the achievement of delivery milestones and SDRLs in accordance with the overall project schedule and customer requirements
  • Support in assuring the configured baseline for the Power & Propulsion System
  • Support the Technical Authority to produce the Power and Propulsion System Certificate of Design and safety submissions

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Experience in Power and Propulsion System design and integration and commissioning of Power and Propulsion equipment within the marine environment
  • Appreciation of wider warship platform design and principles of operation
  • Knowledge of Lloyds regulations

Desirable:

  • Experience of working with within the Defence Industry in a joint working environment
  • Experience of Customer management and a collaborative working environment

The Technical Authority team:

You will be supporting the Technical Authority (TA) to assure the design, development and integration of Power & Propulsion sub-systems for the Canadian River Class Destroyer, management on pre review of P&P documents, working with delivery teams to develop & pre approve the documents, managing changes, reviewing supplier technical information, conformance/non-conformance.
