Newport City Council Childrens Services are seeking an inspirational and dynamic Assistant Team Manager to make positive contributions to transform the lives of the families we work with. The post is for 37 hours per week.

You will work within a service focused on person-centred and strength based approaches committed to achieving Wellbeing outcomes that enable families to safely live together.

Child Protection Team 2 is one of 4 teams. You will work intensively with families to support them through times of crisis and offer better life choices and packages of support. You will work with children on Care and Support through to Child Protection, Public Law Outline, Care Proceedings and Adoption. As a Assistant Team Manager you will hold a reduced case load but a complex one. Your role will also be to support the Team members, provide development, mentoring and training. You will also be expected to undertake supervision duties for the social work assistants and attend management meetings as you intrigrate into the management structure and become part of the stratigic planning for Newport's future. As a Assistant Team Manager, you will deputise for the Team Manager in their absence, support and supervise staff and have a general oversight of the well-being and running of the team. You will be offered regular supervision and will be responsible to the Team Manager.

This post presents an ideal opportunity to further your experience in working with children and developing the position as Assistant Team Manager within the complex field of Child Protection. This will require you be skilled in time management, balancing the daily demands of complex cases versus supporting and assiting your colleges and manager with daily matters.

You must registered with the Care Council and are expected to have the pre-requisite grades to enable you to take on the social work role.
