Assistant Site Manager

We are very excited to be growing our South West & Wales team at Bouygues UK and have a brilliant opportunity available for an Assistant Site Manager to join us based on one of our refurbishment projects based in Exeter.

Job Purpose & Scope:

Assist the senior site manager in the co-ordination and control of the onsite construction process ensuring the site build progresses in line with plan.

Accountabilities & Key Tasks:

  • Be involved in the overall programming and planning of the build.
  • Assist the site manager in maintaining progress on site in accordance with the contract programme.
  • Oversee elements of work as directed by the site manager to ensure safe execution.
  • Raise the Confirmation of Instructions if recipient of verbal instructions.
  • Attend site meetings if requested.
  • Provide information for Progress Reports if requested.
  • In the absence of the Site or Project Manager, chair and minute the subcontractors meetings.
  • Ensure progress is measured and report to the Site or Project Manager regarding progress.
  • Assist the Site Manager to prepare for each element of the works an Inspection and Test Plan and ensure its requirements are achieved.
  • Assist in ensuring that work is carried out in full conformance with quality environmental and safety requirements.
  • Ensure work/materials not achieving the required standard are monitored and reported to the Site Manager.
  • Be fully conversant and comply with the Company Health and Safety Policy.
  • Identify solutions to problems and organise activities and the required margin.
  • Assist the Site Manager to ensure records are kept on site.
  • Assist the Site Manager in the management of materials including:
    • Material scheduling
    • Arrange hire of plant and equipment through the Buying Department
    • Control and call off, proper and safe storage and distribution on site of materials

  • Knowledge of UK building regulations
  • Good financial control skills
  • Understanding of UK H&S construction laws
  • Professional qualification
