By processing household waste at our facility, we produce enough waste from energy to power 80,000 homes every year and recycle 70% of items through our Reuse and Recycling Centres.

About the Role:

We are recruiting our next Assistant Shift Manager to join our team based at the LondonEnergy EcoPark in Edmonton. We are looking for a Senior Authorised Person who will be responsible for ensuring the care and safety of fellow employees across the site.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with Maintenance and support Shift Manager in prioritizing safety documentation and defect resolution to ensure safe plant operation.
  • Review and recommend improvements to Site Safety Rules, Systems, Procedures, and contractor risk assessments/method statements.
  • Identify training needs and promote a strong safety culture within the Energy Centre (EC) and across the company.
  • Participate in planning and coordination of maintenance outages, including attending relevant meetings and liaising with internal/contractor teams.
  • Provide input on operations planning, risk assessment, and efficient plant outage management.
  • Support or deputise for Shift Manager as required, ensuring adequate cover for shifts, holidays, and absences.
  • Contribute to LondonEnergy (LEL) Health & Safety Committee and suggest efficiency improvements to enhance revenue or reduce costs.

Requirements

  • You must be able to work Monday to Sunday, 39 hours p/w shift patterns, nights and days.
  • Previous experience of working in a Waste Operations environment or similar is desired for example, oil and gas, biomass or CCGT
  • You must be a SAP (Senior Authorised Person) able to issue permits and review risk assessments
  • This role requires great communication skills and someone who is a team player
  • Strong Health and Safety knowledge/awareness is a must
