Detailed job description and main responsibilities

A key function of the Assistant Service Manager role within Theatres and Anaesthetics is to support the Trust to achieve national performance targets, whilst focusing on Theatre Systems management, improvement, data analytics and presenting of multiple data sources, as well as, cancelled on the day tracking and trending.

The successful candidate will possess the ability to work closely with senior clinicians, effectively manage performance against a range of standards and support the management team in generating clear strategic plans for their services.

Skills, Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Experience of dealing with senior personnel. Interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Activity and data management using a range of computerised software
  • Knowledge of NHS key policy initiatives
  • Able to work as part of a team and flexibly / creatively to meet the needs of the service
  • Prioritising own and others workloads with efficient / effective use of resources
  • Proven analytical skills including interpreting and presenting large data sets
  • Understanding of data quality and performance indicators
  • Working knowledge of IT systems and packages (Including Microsoft Office)

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Relevant degree, or equivalent demonstrable occupation experience
  • Evidence of continued educational and professional development

  • Professional management qualification or equivalent

  • Able to work proactively on own initiative with minimal supervision. Demonstrable problem solving skills.

Desirable criteria

  • Ability to travel across sites.
