Salary: Base salary: £36,000pa to c.£42,350pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer flexible benefits fund of 15% which is paid on top base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits - check them out in the Benefits section on our website.

As a Assistant Scope & Change Manager at HS2 you will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation and control of HS2 Ltd.'s scope and WBS dictionary and the change management process, within a business unit (e.g. Civils, S&S). This will include populating the database during baseline production phases, and thereafter maintenance of all baselines elements (scope, schedule, cost, data structures) through change governance arrangements, process development and delivery, assurance and management of change control activities.

About the role:

  • Support the Scope & Change Manager in working with Project Managers and the Project Controls community to define and manage the scope of projects, ensuring that outputs are clearly defined consistent with approved procedures for baseline production and management. Engage and source input from Sponsorship, Planning, Risk and Cost teams.
  • Support the implementation of the scope and change management policy, processes and standards effectively.
  • Contribute to the development of change control forward look schedules to ensure that the change control governance forums are effectively utilised.
  • As instructed, apply the Stage Gate process, preparing for and providing recommendations to the Stage Gate Panel.
  • To assist in the production of quality change proposals and ensure clear visibility of implications and movements from the programme baseline position in scope, budgets and schedule, raising any issues or risks.
  • To provide "red lined" scope and WBS dictionary changes consistent with the required change, including correct identification of event risk to the assumptions and exclusions database element.
  • To maintain the change register and assure reporting of changes to relevant stakeholders to enable prompt decision making, approvals and financial authorisations.

Skills:

  • Ability to apply procedures to establish and maintain the WBS dictionary of a large complex project
  • Communication skills, with the ability to engage colleagues.
  • Ability to apply change management processes across the project
  • Ability to analyse inputs and assess data.
  • Ability to update configuration documentation.
  • Ability to support change management reviews.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and produce clear written and verbal communications

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Scope & Change Management objectives.
  • Basic knowledge of the core Project Controls disciplines.
  • Basic knowledge of the stages of the project life cycle.
  • Awareness of baseline development and maintenance of baselines on a major programme.

Types of Experience:

  • Experience of working systematically and according to procedure
  • Experience of working collaboratively within a major project or programme.
  • Experience of Project Management or Project Controls environments.
