Join our Power Transmission and Distribution team as a Assistant Project Manager on our Operational Team based in the North East of England and you'll deliver complex work that really matters to our business, and the world around you.
You will be:
- Responsible for the implementation and management of the project resource
mobilisation inclusive of all personnels competence and development capturing the identification of shortfalls and RAG review to proceed on site. Development of
Training Programmes for onboarding of project personnel and the development of programmes for internal personnel. - Manage the project development engineer and project co-ordinators capturing
business as usual activities inclusive of access reporting and maintenance of the
200km access network and condition of the 80km of public roads. - Management of team budget including monthly spend for identified activities/profiles inclusive of Traffic Management, Security, Site Development and Change inclusive of GS6, and Water Sampling of Private Water Supplies and Identified Water Courses.
- Coordinates a standard and consistent approach to the delivery of projects on time, to cost and quality.
- Supports improvements in project management processes, project reporting and set up assistance during; initiation, planning, design, delivery, monitoring, commissioning and handover/close out.
- Provides general support to the project management team
What you'll be doing
- Assists to maintain accurate project records (progress, daily diaries etc.)
- Prepare both internal/external reports and liaise with stakeholders
- Collate information and Complete the relevant applications associated with the
projects requirements - Follow Balfour Beatty processes and procedures
- Assisting in providing regular client update reports and attending scheme
progress meetings as required. - Hold periodic project reviews and update the Digital Briefcase
- Ensure reports provide relevant information to enable decisions to be made
which are informed, cost effective and in line with overall business strategy - Prepare and present both internal/external reports and liaise with stakeholders
- Ability to interrogate designs and challenge inputs and deliverables

Health, Safety & Environmental - Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm & keep up to date with changes in
legislation - Carry out Safety & Environmental Tours/promote observation and safety
initiatives - Lead Accident/Incident Investigations and monitor effectiveness of the H&S
Management System and implement improvement actions - Review RAMS and accepting subcontractor RAMS
- Develop H&S plan and ensure it is treated as a live document and ensure
sufficiency and competency of workforce
Who we're looking for
- Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of the
organisation - Good interpersonal skills that enable working relationships to be developed at
all levels across the business and be able to negotiate and influence - Able to undertake work in high pressure situations with a flexible attitude
- A record of a solutions-based approach to problem solving
- Experience of managing and working with numerous teams at one time.
- Organised and able to manage a busy workload.
- Manage a team, programme and budget
- Visualise the bigger picture
- Excellent communication skills and credibility with farmers, landowners and
clients. - Attention to detail.
- Up to date IT skills.
- Team player.
- Ability to resolves complex problems that do not have routine solutions.
- Ability to negotiate tactfully and diplomatically with people at all levels.
- Valid Driver's license
