About you
As an Assistant Project Manager you'll be responsible for assisting in the delivery of project management activities on various size projects in the public and private sector. In order to succeed in this position, you must be organized, have excellent time management skills and relevant experience within the construction industry with a commercial awareness of the construction process.
Responsibilities
• You will:
- Carry out post contract administration duties in accordance with the building contract
- Produce and issue certificates - sectional completion, practical completion, end of defects etc.
- Perform site visits and inspections of work to date and health and safety on site
- Define project escalation channels and support enforcing them
- Arrange meetings and workshops and produce agendas and minutes, as necessary
- Prepare the defects schedule and administer closing out the defects
- Take responsibility for the health and safety of self and others by working within the H & S policy and procedures
- Endeavour to improve our social and environmental impact
• You will produce:
- Project Execution Plans (PEP)
- the project directory and the project meeting schedule
- risk registers/logs and risk workshop reviews
- weekly/fortnightly dashboard reports
• You will support in:
- the preparation of appointment documents for consultants
- the preparation of the brief and Employers Requirements
- value engineering reviews and workshops
- producing the procurement strategy reports
- tendering and procurement of projects
- the production of the master programme and monitor progress
- the production of monthly reports and monitor progress
- the production of Gateway documents and Governance papers
- the implementation of change control
- the snagging process and inspections and handover process
- the post project review discussions and the negotiation of the final accounts
• You will set up:
- the internal QA filing system
- the change control template and change control log
- the project manager's instructions (PMI) template and register/log
- the contract administrators' instructions (CAI) template and register/log
Requirements
- Qualified in a relevant construction related degree
- Relevant experience within the construction industry and commercial awareness of the construction process
- Achieved or actively working towards Chartership
- Awareness of CDM and construction Health & Safety
