Salary: £39,000 to £42,000 per annum dependent on experience

Contract Type: Permanent - Full Time

The Role

An opportunity as an Assistant Project Manager to work on UK and International projects,developing and/or providing support to new business opportunities and projects across the range of CAAi service lines (Advisory, Training and Examinations) to fulfil our purpose of raising aviation standards around the world.

As part of the role, you will also have your own portfolio of small to medium sized non-complex projects to manage, along with account management of clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities further include supporting the strategic development and profitability of the CAAi portfolio aligned to our overall purpose and vision.

The role has been designed to provide the successful applicant with opportunities to develop and grow within the company.

Core Accountabilities

  • Responsible for managing the successful delivery of small to medium sized non-complex projects and supporting delivery of larger projects across all elements of the project life cycle (project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling and closure) ensuring delivery is achieved on-time, on-cost and on-quality and with effective reporting
  • Preparing simple client Proposals and supporting the preparation of more complex bids and tenders in line with our growing portfolio and business plan
  • Internal and external stakeholder management, including establishing and maintaining significant Client relationships through our account management structure
  • Responsible for retaining and expanding existing client contracts
  • Supporting the development of new products and services, including business cases if necessary
  • Expanding our current portfolio, finding opportunities, and bringing in new business.
  • Motivating multidisciplinary teams to deliver service excellence
  • Supporting, and where required, leading client facing meetings including presentations as required
  • Completing tasks in compliance with Quality Management System and contributing to continuous improvement to maximise efficiency and effectiveness
  • Supporting financial reporting and management of client accounts

About You

To be considered for the role you should have the skills and experience in the profile below:

  • Graduate (or equivalent) or relevant industry experience
  • Knowledge and experience of practical project management and delivery throughout the entire project lifecycle, involving tasks such as project planning and scheduling, stakeholder management, risk management, financial management, among others. Preference in an international and commercial environment and ideally in structured environments or highly regulated sectors
  • Business Development and/or Bid Management experience (including some proposal writing) is highly valued
  • Basic people management experience and evidence of working with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with clients, partners, stakeholders, and sub-contractors and providing the highest levels of customer service and excellence
  • Effective problem solver, with a solution focused approach
  • Collaborative person and ability to work in a team environment, but equally capable of working autonomously
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with experience of working to deadlines
  • Sound understanding of risk management principles and contingency planning
  • Advantage to have worked in a multi-cultural environment and have an awareness and appreciation of working with international clients
  • Excellent IT skills, specifically in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Appreciation for project management methodologies in structured environments, preferably coupled with a formal Project Management qualification such as APM or Prince 2
  • Aviation experience desirable with a background in a technically orientated industry
  • Language skills/ability to speak several languages would be advantageous
  • Experience in using a Customer Relationship Management tool would be advantageous

For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.
