Job Description

As an Assistant Portfolio Manager in the Buy and Maintain team at LGIM you will play a key role in the management of a broad range of investment grade credit portfolios. Collaborating with teams across the business, you will assist with all aspects of the client life-cycle, including on-boarding, portfolio design, trade modelling and client servicing to help maintain the highest standards of client experience

In this role, you will collaborate with senior members of the team, supporting the management of bespoke and pooled portfolios in a risk-controlled manner. Your ability to engage with senior portfolio managers and build good working relationships with a range of stakeholders across the business will be key

Alongside contributing to the investment process you will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge of credit markets and related derivative instruments with the opportunity to work on mandates catering to a range of client types including defined benefit and defined contribution pension schemes as well as insurance companies

What you'll be doing:

  • Working with senior portfolio managers to assist in the design and management of bespoke and pooled Buy & Maintain mandates, including the implementation of derivative overlays to align with client objectives and constraints while ensuring a risk-controlled approach
  • Contributing to the optimisation of client portfolios with the aim of delivering outstanding performance and client satisfaction
  • Working closely with the Implementation team, Client teams, and the Global Trading team to facilitate a smooth and efficient onboarding process for new or transitioning clients
  • Monitoring and analyse portfolio performance, rating activity, and collaborate with credit analysts and other teams to recommend and implement necessary trades
  • Managing liquidity and collateral requirements, ensuring portfolios remain within defined risk parameters
  • Assisting in the preparation and review of marketing materials and reporting documentation, maintaining high-quality standards and accuracy
  • Collaborating with LGIM teams to ensure robust delivery of client objectives. Contribute to improvements in portfolio management processes, systems, and services
  • Ensuring that all actions taken in managing client portfolios align with LGIM procedures and the Treating Customers Fairly policy

Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

  • Strong academic/professional qualifications background and/or experience gained in similar positions required.
  • Completed or working towards the CFA qualification preferred, demonstrating a commitment to advancing knowledge and ethical standards in investment management
  • Experience in fixed income markets including an understanding of related derivatives
  • Ability to analyse macroeconomic trends, industry dynamics, and company factors, applying insights effectively
  • High level of IT proficiency, with use of Bloomberg, VBA, and working knowledge of Python an advantage
  • Clear and concise communication skills, with the ability to articulate thoughts and ideas logically
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with others, fostering a collaborative and positive team environment
