About us

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our team responsible for a range of services including Income Collection and Debt Recovery, Income Management and Accounts Payable.

One of three Assistant Managers, you will play a crucial role in delivering the team's objectives, however, your main responsibility will be to lead a team of staff to deliver its Income Collection and Debt Recovery function.

Key Responsibilities

Consequently, you will have the knowledge and skills to:

  • Manage the recovery of debt including Sundry Debts and the enforcement of Parking Fines, Council Tax and Business Rates debt.
  • Manage an in-house team of Enforcement Agents and its enforcement I.T. system (Civica Collect/Onestep).
  • Raise and collect invoices for our Business Improvement District.
  • Manage relationships with a range of partners including council services and external debt collection agencies.
  • Recruit, train, develop and support team members to achieve the highest performance standards.

Essential Requirements Include:

  • Minimum of one year's experience in debt recovery.
  • Knowledge of debt recovery software packages and relevant legislation.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage workloads effectively.
  • Self-motivated with a positive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and high-quality service delivery.
  • Excellent I.T. skills and be proficient in the use of Excel and Word.
  • Educated to A level or equivalent, or equivalent level of experiential learning.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.

All successful candidates will be required to complete a Basic DBS check.
