Job Description
Due to continued growth we are looking for an Assistant Package Manager to join a landmark Energy project in Teesside.
Costain are procuring, managing and administering the Facilities Contracts for and on behalf of bp
This project management role is to assist the package manager for the civils and structural steelwork Facilities Contract. The package manager works closely with the construction and commercial team to ensure that the Facilities Contractors deliver their scopes of work within budget and on schedule. Support structures for the above ground pipeline
- New pipebridges (4 No)
- Civils for AGIs
- Major culvert at Bluemain
- Pipeline supports
- HV civils route - including buried duct route with two HV support bridges (One over the Network Rail)
Ideally suited to a candidate who has worked at Senior Engineer / agent level on scope of works including civils and structural steelwork. A good opportunity to develop contract and commercial awareness skills as part of their development towards a project manager role.

Responsibilities
- Oversee the Facilities contracts, monitor performance and support and enable successful delivery.
- Oversight of the administration of the relevant Facilities Contract, working closely with the commercial, planning and project controls team
- Chair the monthly progress meeting and ensure the Facilities Contractors produce the required daily, weekly and monthly reports
- Work closely with the Construction management team to ensure the package is safely delivered on time and co-ordinated with other Facilities Contracts
- Work closely with the HSE and quality team to ensure contract requirements are met.
- Management of change to scope.
Qualifications
Essential:
- +7 years of applicable experience (Engineer or agent working on civil and steelwork scopes)
- Is developing towards the role of Project manager
- Understanding of Engineering and Construction Principles and techniques and best practice.
- Proven team-working skills with the ability to motivate and lead a team
- Builds positive relationships with supply chain.
- Management of change, technical, cost and schedule.
- Managing Risk
- Strong communication skills
- Practical approach, logical thought process and a methodical way of working
Desirable:
- Has fulfilled the role of Project manager
- Experience of managing civils and steelwork sub-contracts
- Experience of working on contracts across the Teesside industrial complex including Wilton and North Tees
- Experience of pipeline projects within brownfield and live operating site environments including on Teesside
- Working knowledge and application of CDM 2015
- Sub-contract administration
