At CIM Moor Hall we are looking for an Assistant Operations Manager to join our conference centre business. This is a great opportunity for a proactive team player to play a vital role in the support and development of our food and beverage team and business.
About the role:
As our Assistant Operations Manager, you will assist the Operations manager in delivering a seamless operation of Moor Hall Conference Centre, with a focus on supporting the F&B department.
In a typical day, you might:
- Assist the operations manager in ensuring the smooth running of Food and Beverage (F&B) and Conference and Events (C&E) activities at CIM Moor Hall.
- Provide an excellent guest experience and a positive financial contribution to the Moor Hall budget. • To assist the Operations Manager in driving growth in F&B income and preparation and delivery of F&B budget.
- Assume the Duty Manager role and will be responsible for leading function services where appropriate.
- Deliver an excellent guest experience to a range of delegates, guests and staff in the restaurant, bar and other event spaces
- Manage, develop, and motivate the F&B and C&E team
- Work closely with the Chef and Kitchen team to provide an inspiring food service for business and leisure guest events
- Nurture and deliver collaborative, supportive, and seamless work practices between operational teams
- Identify opportunities to grow onsite F&B income
- Manage all F&B, C&E and day-to-day operations within budgeted guidelines and to the highest standard
- Establish and maintain targets, KPI's, schedules, policies and procedures
- Contribute to management reports on sales, customer satisfaction and other relevant statistics
- Ensure that relevant laws are adhered to such as Food Hygiene, Health and Safety Regulations and licensing laws
- Ensure security and proper storage of food and beverage products inventory and equipment and replenish supplies in a timely and efficient manner, minimising waste.
- Be fully trained in bar service and procedures including cellar management
- Understand all hotel management best practices and relevant laws
- Undertake any other related tasks or duties as required by the General Manager and the Operations Manager
- Draw up shift rotas and manage the department budget
- To deputise for the Operations Manager when on opposite shifts and covering periods of absence
- Conduct regular 1:1 check-in's for direct reports using the Clear Review system, ensuring that relevant objectives are in place and that there is regular communication with team members on their performance
- To line manage, lead, and motivate the team
- Ensure all team members have active learning & development plans and that mandatory training requirements are up to date.
- To carry out duty management shifts as per the rota and to the agreed standard
- To have the capability to run social functions/weddings to the agreed standard
- Ensure the smooth operation of the day to day running of the
- Conference Centre & on-site services • Promote and encourage an 'excellence' culture within CIM
- Maintain a high-profile management presence to internal and external customers whilst the continuing of hotel operations
- To ensure health and safety KPI's and fire/H&S/Power cut procedures for the Moor Hall site are adhered to
- To have a good knowledge of AV, bar, restaurant, reception, and housekeeping procedures
- To attend management meetings as required.
For this role, you'll need:
- Excellent people and communication skills.
- A strong leader with proven skills of handling challenging situations
- Financially astute, able to contribute to budget planning and reporting, and manage budgets.
- Familiarity with relevant industry software and able to use Microsoft
- Excel and Word to an intermediate level.
- Minimum of two years within a similar role is essential, preferably in a hotel or meeting event environment.
- Knowledge of restaurant department and evidence of restaurant management experience.
- Proactive and positive approach.
- A methodical and self-motivated person with enthusiasm.

- Flexible in terms of hours worked. Formal training/certificates Desired but not essential as training is provided in all of these
- Personal Alcohol Licence.
- Health and Safety Certificate. First Aid at Work Certificate.
- Fire Marshall Training.
- Food Safety Certificate.
