Job description

Connect to your Industry

At Deloitte, we are committed to tackling climate change. We launched World Climate , our global strategy to drive responsible climate choices within our organization and beyond. We are looking for a highly motivated sustainability professional to join the UK World Climate Sustainability team and support our journey to net zero.

This role will play an important role helping us to reduce both the carbon emissions and the pressures we place on nature through our fleet, real estate, business travel, homeworking & commuting and supply chain.

This role will sit within the UK WorldClimate team and report into the UK Sustainable Operations & Value Chain lead. It will also require close alignment with the ESG disclosure/reporting team as well as engagement with colleagues and stakeholders across the firm as we look to successfully embed sustainability across our operations.

Connect to your career at Deloitte

Deloitte drives progress. Using our vast range of expertise, that covers audit, risk advisory, and consulting services across tax, legal, business, technology and corporate finance, we help our clients become leaders wherever they choose to compete. To do this, we invest in outstanding people. We build teams of future thinkers, with diverse talents and backgrounds, and empower them all to reach for and achieve more.

What brings us all together at Deloitte? It's how we approach the thousands of decisions we make every day. How we behave, our beliefs and our attitudes. In other words: our values. Whatever we do, wherever we are in the world, we lead the way, serve with integrity, take care of each other, foster inclusion, and collaborate for measurable impact. These five shared values lead every decision we make and action we take, guiding us to deliver impact how and where it matters most.

Connect to your opportunity

Support the delivery of our UK decarbonization agenda, including:

  • Feeding into the development and supporting the delivery of our Sustainable Operations and Value Chain workplan that sets out the activities required to deliver on our sustainability agenda
  • Engaging our operations teams and supporting them to deliver environmental/non-carbon related projects such as business travel, procurement, resource efficiency, water reduction, sustainable catering, sustainable events, and our wider strategy to identify and reduce our impacts on nature
  • Tracking progress against our workplan and share updates with our central World Climate PMO
  • Supporting the ESG Disclosures team to report on and analyse our environmental impacts, and feed insights into our action plans
  • Supporting the creation of materials incl. presentations, analysis, scorecard reports and other key outputs to enable active engagement with operations-related stakeholders

Connect to your skills and experience

  • You have awareness of corporate sustainability and an enthusiasm to maintain this through keeping aware of external/market shifts, leading practices and developing an external peer network
  • You're organised. Someone who is good at planning and keeping a programme of work running to deadlines.
  • You're independent. WorldClimate is a hybrid team spread so you should be comfortable working independently within a primarily virtual environment.
  • You're passionate. Passionate about sustainability, your personal development and the development of your team.
  • You have some experience of working in sustainable operations
  • You are a people person. This role will involve extensive stakeholder engagement across teams to help align plans and influence activities
  • You have an eye for detail. You will bring a rigorous approach to project implementation and tracking outcomes

Personal independence

Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints (e.g., in relation to any financial interests and employment relationships). This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm, and also prohibitions on certain employment relationships (e.g., you are not permitted to hold a secondary employment role with SEC audit clients of the firm whilst being employed by the firm). The recruitment team will provide further detail as you progress through the recruitment process or you can contact the Independence team upon request.
