KPMG's Strategic Advisory Services (SAS) team wants the right candidate for their national team. The team needs professional, talented individuals who have a passion for identifying, creating and delivering innovative solutions for public and private sector clients

The SAS team sits within the Infrastructure Advisory Group (IAG) and works with government and industry on the biggest, most complex and pressing strategic, policy, commercial and programme implementation issues.

Our work currently focuses on the fast-changing and technology-impacted areas of public spending, including transformation and investment in public services market, infrastructure, mobility as a service and integrated transport systems, the rail and road markets especially transformation of central government and devolved services (e.g. prison and probation services and NHS infrastructure). Across these and other sectors we support clients understanding the role of supply chains to optimise collaborative delivery of complex programmes. Practitioners will have the opportunity to advise on strategic options, business cases and operating model strategy.

What will you be doing?

  • Using practical experience and insight to assess client-developed commercial solutions
  • Taking ownership of small workstreams within engagements and contributing to larger workstreams, working closely with workstream leads
  • Planning and conducting analysis of data and evidence
  • Contributing to the development of solutions to complex problems and challenging the thinking of more senior colleagues and clients
  • Working with workstream leads and other colleagues to shape and produce client ready deliverables (slides, Word documents or Excel)
  • Building an internal and external network
  • Providing timely feedback and coaching to other team members and contributing to personal development of the team
  • Participating in team activities

What will you need to do it?

  • Evidence of strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
  • Structured thinking skills combined with creativity
  • Be comfortable handling ambiguity and changing client demands
  • Ability to review and assess technical data and distil the key strategic insights
  • Ability to evaluate complex problems and support delivery of insightful recommendations that can be practically executed
  • Enthusiasm and interest in working on critical public sector issues and the delivery of the infrastructure and services that help realise public policy
  • Experience of working with or researching a range of stakeholders/clients and having an emerging understanding of the issues facing the infrastructure sector and/or large-scale procurements
  • Background in relevant consultancy, commercial, strategy or academia
  • Professional qualification (or working towards one) or relevant postgraduate degrees welcome
  • A willingness to travel
