In Financial Transformation, we improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the finance function and generate real insights to help deliver value to the business. Our mission statement is to help our clients create and evolve a digitally enabled, human centric, and integrated finance function. Our Financial Transformation practice is a priority area for significant and strategic growth. We work with leading corporate clients, focusing on understanding the core issues and opportunities to deliver value-adding change across their finance functions. The key drivers of change for our clients are: technology implementations, an ambition to be more efficient and effective, and a desire to progress along the maturity curve. We are a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, working together with technology focussed professionals to deliver KPMG Powered Enterprise though a standardised delivery model, which drives professional delivery to clients.
The role will sit within our Finance Transformation team which brings together consulting professionals with a background in implementing change in finance functions for large corporate clients. The team works with clients to improve the operating efficiency and effectiveness of their finance functions, often with improvements to their underlying technology solutions. We aim to take out clients' finance functions beyond being "score keepers" and instead positioning finance as the "co-pilot" to the business, at the centre of driving growth and decision making.
Applicants should have prior experience in a large corporate, as well as in-depth knowledge of finance processes and technology. They should also be able to demonstrate the ability to carry out the following activities:
Engagement delivery:
• Work as part of a diverse project team including both KPMG and client colleagues to deliver finance transformation engagements
• Build positive and collaborative relationships with KPMG and client resources
• Help identify performance improvement opportunities for clients
• Lead and manage work-streams of a small to medium size and complexity (including analysing and interpreting data, drafting report findings and attending client meetings)
Business development:
• Work with bid teams to respond to client RFPs, and showcase KPMG's capabilities in response to a client need
• Contribute to the establishment and development of both internal and external relationships
• Support the business development activity of senior members of the team (including shaping, developing, contributing to and presenting proposals/ bids for future work)
People development:
• Supervise, coach and review the work performed by analysts and interns on engagements
• Monitoring and supporting team members and accelerating their development with a particular emphasis on coaching and skills transfer
• Participate in skills training, knowledge sharing and networking activities with the team and the wider KPMG community
• Facilitate collaborative and fulfilling working environments for the Client and KPMG staff on engagements
Practice development:
• Support building of KPMG's suite of methodologies and intellectual property to develop our Finance Transformation offering
• Support senior management with internal operational responsibilities for the team such as budgeting and planning
• Support the management and leadership in developing innovative and Client-focused go-to-market propositions
Our Finance Transformation offering looks across the finance function, implementing change to improve all layers of the operating model.
Successful candidates should have:
• 3 or more years experience in the finance function of leading corporate companies, or client facing audit or consulting experience at a professional services firm
• A strong understanding of the operating model of a finance function including systems, data, processes, and governance
• Track record of operating in a finance project environment and ability to work with a variety of stakeholders to achieve transformation and business outcomes
• An understanding of the challenges and opportunities for finance functions at large, corporate entities
Core skills and experience:
• Project management experience and the ability to organise and prioritise your own work to meet project requirements
• Proven track record of delivering high quality outputs on time, and exceeding expectations
• Ability to interpret data, generate insights and construct solutions
• Good communicator with the ability to build strong and lasting internal and client relationships
• Relevant finance qualification - ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA or equivalent
• Relevant experience at a leading corporate company in one or more of the following sectors: aerospace & defence, consumer markets, energy & natural resources, industrial manufacturing, leisure, life sciences, retail, technology, media & telecommunications
Additional skills and experience (preferred):
• Prior client facing consulting or audit experience
• Experience of enterprise software deployments
• Management of a team, including allocating tasks, reviewing outputs, and performance management
