Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people within residential care and have a passion for working with children and young people from a position of leadership within our homes? If so, this is an exciting opportunity to join Newport City Council's residential service leadership team. We are looking to recruit 3 new assistant home managers for each Cambridge House, Forest Lodge & Oaklands.
Cambridge House is a stunning newly renovated 6 bed Victorian home located close to the city centre of Newport. The role will allow the successful candidate to mould, drive and develop this new and exciting home. The successful candidate and the team at Cambridge House will provide asylum-seeking young people who have been separated from their parents or carers with culturally sensitive, trauma informed care. You will be responsible for developing their strengths and work towards their aspirations within a safe and welcoming home environment.
Forest Lodge offers emergency and long-term accommodation for children aged 11-18. We are looking for an assistant manager who is motivated to work in this rewarding yet challenging role. The successful candidate will be committed to delivering trauma informed care and leading a team to use attachment-based parenting strategies. You will become part of a team providing a stimulating, nurturing environment to enable our children to reach their full potential.
Oaklands offers short breaks and care for children and young people aged four to 17-years-old with learning disabilities and additional needs and is situated in the Rogerstone area of Newport. The role will allow the successful candidate to manage and support a team of experienced residential childcare workers who not only provides a high level of care to children with additional needs, but also provide them with opportunities to grow and develop through a range of activities. You will work closely with our leadership team, parents and carers to meet individual children needs whilst giving them opportunities to grow and develop.
As an Assistant Home Manager, you will be responsible for the daily provision of a home for young people, inclusive of the providing supervision, co-ordinating a rota, resourcing and budgetary accountabilities required of an effective specialist service. You will take the lead in delivering a home's statement of purpose and ensure that each child and young person is provided with a safe and caring home environment.
You will be a resilient practitioner with a strong commitment to working therapeutically and restoratively with children and young people. Being highly motivated and conscientious, you will exhibit the capacity for independent decision making and risk assessment.
You will implement systems and procedures designed to promote positive outcomes for children and young people with complex needs, ensuring a flexible, proactive approach whilst meeting the desired outcomes of the people we support.

This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS).
