Due to the regulated nature of procurement in the public sector, the firm has established a specialist, business critical team, the Public Sector Bid Team (PSBT). Tasked with managing and supporting the firm's public sector bidding activity, the PSBT drives quality and operational improvements on public sector bids and helps the business to win work in a highly competitive marketplace.

We are looking for a bid writer to join our Public Sector Bid Team. Working closely with bid teams, the remit of this role will be to help develop high quality proposals and win business. To be successful in this role, you will need to be adept at drafting and editing content for bids and be able to manage relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with virtual and in-person sessions aligned to the bid development stages
  • Writing compelling and well-structured content that clearly aligns with the client's requirements
  • Setting up response templates and suggesting a logical response structure for teams to use
  • Speaking to Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to help draft and improve technical responses where required
  • Working closely with bid teams to help articulate their 'win themes'
  • Reviewing responses to make sure they fully answer the questions and recommend areas for improvement
  • Editing responses for concision, clarity, consistency and tone
  • Proof-reading and compliance checking to make sure final responses are high quality
  • Facilitate lessons learned and share best practice
  • Working with bid teams to identify ways to improve our bid quality and directly contribute to initiatives that address these
  • Championing our best practice bidding processes

Essential:

  • Excellent writing, editing, and copy-writing skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to high-quality deliverables
  • Previous experience of working on bids as a writer
  • Confidence to co-facilitate group storyboarding sessions at key bid stages
  • Experience of interviewing subject matter experts, to develop and refine accurate content
  • Strong reviewing skills with the ability to provide detailed recommendations to bid teams
  • Ability to converse with senior stakeholders
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, compelling content
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills to meet deadlines
  • Adaptability to deal with changing requirements
  • Flexibility and willingness to work to tight deadlines
  • Good interpersonal skills and use of initiative
  • Ability to work collaboratively and proactively in a fast-paced environment
  • UK security clearance (SC or above). If not held, a willingness to obtain this

Desirable

  • A naturally inquisitive nature to challenge ideas and identify ways to improve
  • Previous experience of providing writing and editing support for government and public sector proposals.
  • Understanding of the potential benefits and implications of using AI tools within bidding
