Deloitte's Insurance Audit and Assurance Group provides a range of high value Audit and Assurance services to some of the largest insurance brokers and non-life and life insurers in the UK and as part of global teams.

Our Insurance Accounting Advisory team is a dedicated team of professionals with deep technical accounting and financial reporting skills and in-depth knowledge of the Insurance industry.

We are a client-facing group used to dealing with the practical application of accounting and financial reporting requirements and are experienced in advising clients on challenging and complex technical matters. We work closely with the Deloitte's Global Centres of Excellence to ensure a consistent robust response to accounting questions posed. As such our team are uniquely positioned to assist companies with the accounting and financial reporting challenges they face.

We are looking to expand our team of focused, aspirational and collaborative insurance practitioners, and as such we are offering the opportunity to join as an Assistant Manager in our CFO Advisory (Accounting Advisory) Group to support this challenging and rapidly expanding business.

As a member of our team, reporting to a Manager / Senior Manager or Director, you will assist in the provision of a range of different service offerings provided by the CFO Advisory team, which may include:

  • Advising clients on IFRS and UKGAAP accounting queries
  • Assessing the impact of new accounting standards such as IFRS 9and 17 and assisting clients with implementation
  • Performing accounting policy and financial statements reviews
  • Drafting technical accounting papers
  • Supporting clients with financial reporting processes
  • Advising clients on Solvency II methodology
  • Assisting our clients with analytics

Connect to your skills and professional experience

To qualify for this opportunity you must have the following experience/skills:

  • Experience of working within, or with, Audit department of a large Financial Services organisation or within the Insurance industry
  • Knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP and / or Solvency II
  • Strong knowledge of the insurance industry
  • Ability to develop strong client relationships
  • A relevant accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA or international equivalent)
  • Commercial awareness of current economic and market trends
  • Knowledge or awareness of developments in Insurance regulation
  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • A collaborative approach and a good team player
  • Report writing, presentation and interpersonal skills, including ability to engage at all levels
  • An enquiring / analytical mind and ability to use initiative, adapt and solve problems.

Assurance

Businesses need to be resilient and transparent in their reporting to build trust and confidence. Assurance practitioners play a key role in achieving this through independent review and challenge of management's views on a range of regulatory and reporting requirements, whether financial, operational or compliance in nature.

Personal independence

Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints (e.g., in relation to any financial interests and employment relationships). This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm, and also prohibitions on certain employment relationships (e.g., you are not permitted to hold a secondary employment role with SEC audit clients of the firm whilst being employed by the firm).
