Location: Peterborough City Hospital

Role: Assistant Patient Catering Manager

Hours: 40, working 5/7 days

Pay: £33,081.41PA

Job Purpose:

The Assistant Patient Catering Manager will support the day-to-day management of Patient Catering services at Peterborough City Hospital, ensuring compliance with the Medirest contract. The role also includes stepping into supervisory positions within Soft FM Services as needed, incident management, audit duties, and supporting workforce planning and service delivery in line with policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in overseeing daily patient catering services.
  • Step into any supervisory role within Soft FM Services when required.
  • Ensure that daily work schedules comply with policies and procedures
  • Conduct thorough investigations, provide feedback, and implement preventative measures.
  • Conduct departmental audits
  • Attend joint monitoring walk rounds and ensure the department adheres to company policies, especially around Food Safety
  • Ensure all staff receive mandatory training and remain compliant.
  • Identify staffing shortages, assess risks, and allocate resources to maintain service levels.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, infection control, and manual handling regulations.
  • Safeguard hospital assets and ensure the safety of staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, record actions, and resolve issues.
  • Encourage best practices within the team to ensure high-quality service and patient care.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage, supervise, and train staff effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of Service Level Agreements and FM t Soft Services.
  • Understanding of manual handling, infection control, and health & safety practices.
  • Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations and handle emotional or distressed patients/visitors.
  • Previous experience at a managerial or supervisory level, preferably in Soft Services or Patient Catering within a healthcare setting
  • Full UK driving license (preferred but not essential).
