We're looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join our team for a 12-month contract. This role is based in Derby and is a hybrid model.
Job Description - The Role
The Assistant Management Accountant will play a key role in the delivery of financial reporting and month-end accounting across business units. Working as part of the Financial Accounting & Reporting (FA&R) team within Finance Operations, this position is ideal for a part-qualified accountant with a strong background across both industry and practice, who is looking to further develop technical skills and gain exposure to transformation initiatives in a shared services environment.
As an Assistant Management Accountant, you will:
- Deliver accurate month-end close activities, including journals, balance sheet reconciliations, and P&L reporting.
- Prepare financial statements, intercompany transactions, and FX adjustments.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure accurate coding across business areas.
- Liaise with internal teams on financial analysis, forecasting, and variance reporting.
- Support with financial controls, compliance, and preparation for audits.
- Assist with process improvements and transformation programmes (e.g. Blackline).
- Collaborate across departments to enhance reporting quality and streamline systems.
What we require from the candidate:
- Part-qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
- Strong mix of industry and practice experience.
- Previous exposure to financial reporting and statutory accounting.
- Sound understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and audit practices.
- Advanced Excel skills: SAP and Blackline experience beneficial.
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage cyclical workloads and thrive in shared services settings.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
