Main duties and responsibilities
- Advise and guide all department heads within the Berkeley and the Emory across various Human Resources remit, including; recruitment and selection, performance management, employee relations, payroll and reward and recognition.
- Manage and oversee the recruitment and selection process for the Berkeley and the Emory, ensuring a highly effective attraction approach, maximizing the profile of the Berkeley and the Emory brand from an employment perspective, and to secure best available talent within an appropriate timeframe.
- Ensure accurate job descriptions and person specifications are up-to-date for all positions.
- Responsible for recruiting and interviewing senior positions up to Head of Department level.
- Support the planning and coordination of Career Fairs and College/University open days as required, ensuring the Berkeley and the Emory are effectively represented and profiled externally.
- Monitor reference and right to work/immigration checks are thoroughly undertaken within the required timescales and audited in accordance with company policies and legislative requirements to ensure full compliance. Report any issues to the Director of Human Resources.
- Maintain accurate personnel records, including but not limited to, current and historical wage, salary data and other documentation in a confidential and secure location in accordance with Data Protection and relevant legislation. Achieve full compliance with all legislative and company standards of practice.
- Support all internal communications initiatives including digital noticeboards, newsletters, quarterly presentations, announcements, internal and social events.
- Support the reward and recognition programmes, ensuring systems are in place for timely and well organised events or communications including; the social agenda, birthdays, Employee of the Month and Year, annual award programmes and Long Service recognition.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of best practice in the reward and recognition arena and recommend initiatives and schemes to enhance our employee proposition.
- Ensure highly effective employee relations handling is in place across all aspects of HR and people management, delivering effective and appropriate support for managers in all performance management and ER related activities.
- Handle ER related matters and seek advice when required, ensuring company policy and best practice is adopted and matters are communicated to the Director of Human Resources
- Ensure exit interviews are undertaken for all colleagues. Produce and analyse results on a monthly basis and present to the Director of Human Resources.
- Share exit interview feedback with Heads of Department and Executive Planning Committee, and identify and define actions which support talent retention.
- Oversee the probationary review process and monitor all due probationary reviews are undertaken by relevant managers. Ensure confirmation letters are issued following successful completion, and support managers where probation is extended or unsuccessful.
- Support colleagues and managers in succession planning initiatives in order to achieve talent retention.
- Support and promote the performance appraisal system, ensuring appraisals are carried out on an annual basis within the given timeframe.
- In conjunction with the Training Manager, produce an analysis of feedback and training, development or HR related needs following the annual appraisal process
- Collaborate with Director of Human Resources and Learning & Development Manager in setting the strategic direction for the hotels.
- Proactively promote and represent the hotels and Maybourne Hotel Group in the external talent market, maintain a valuable network and access to up to date information and best practice within the HR arena and industry.
