Opportunity Overview

The University of Salford is seeking an Assistant Head of Income to play a key leadership role within our Finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and support a dedicated team responsible for credit control activities and the administration of tuition fee payment plans.

As a senior member of the Income team, you will represent the function across a range of high-profile projects and working groups, including student registration and graduation. You will also contribute to system enhancements and upgrades, while building and managing effective relationships with external partners and third-party providers.

This is a fast-paced and varied role, ideal for a motivated and highly organised leader who thrives on responsibility. You will be confident making decisions, able to work independently, and passionate about delivering an outstanding customer experience. Strong communication skills, excellent IT capability, and proven experience of managing and developing teams are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • To manage, motivate and supervise a small team.
  • Maximise Student Income & minimise bad debts by efficient debt chasing & adherence to best practice.
  • Co-ordinate the team's efficient processing of the financial aspects of student registration
  • Handle complex cases and respond to complaints in line with the Universities guidelines.
  • Be a subject matter expert for collection of fees.

About the Department

The Finance Department is responsible for the overall financial management of the institution including subsidiaries. The division provides a full range of financial services to the University, including management and financial accounting services. The University has devolved systems of planning and budgeting, and the Finance Department works closely with Academic areas and Professional Services to maximise the opportunities for the University within an appropriate environment.
