Working in the Accounting and Control Centre of Excellence function you will be a key member of the Supply Chain & Service Operations Finance team with accountability around the Controls and processes underpinning the operational costs for areas covering Warehousing, Transport, Home Delivery & Courier, Contact Centre, In Home Repairs, Lab Repairs, Returns processing and Exit & Recycling Revenues

You will also liaise with the wider UK finance team, and also our outsourced Infosys finance team, to ensure alignment on accounting, forecasting and reporting and co-ordinate a seamless finance service.

This role will offer the chance to gain an in depth understanding of the groups Supply Chain and Service Operation costs, working closely with variance internal stakeholders including the SC&SO Finance Business Partner team and key operational leads and help to drive effective performance.

Role overview:

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Period End Process - work closely with our Infosys finance team to deliver accurate outputs in a timely manner.
  • Accounting ownership of Returns
  • Working closely with the finance team in Infosys and support the review and sign off of balance sheet reconciliations and management reporting.
  • Adhoc Analysis and Project Work - supporting Supply Chain operations and Finance Business Partners when required.
  • Ensuring accounting treatments are in line with relevant accounting and minimum control standards.
  • Identifying risks and opportunities and mitigate where required.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting - support these key processes with insights into key drivers and movements.
  • Providing management reporting for decision making - trend, variance & sensitivity analysis.
  • Driving process improvement through developing new ideas to enhance existing controls supported through CI workstream.
  • Advising the Accounting & Control CoE on best practice and the financial accounting implications of new initiatives, seeking guidance where necessary.

Key Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong academics and qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) with 1 to 3+ PQE, or relevant business experience
  • Experience of operating within a finance team, preferably at a large complex organisation
  • Highly organised and structured, ability to forward plan to ensure personal and team deadlines are achieved
  • Able to manage and influence senior stakeholders.
