Our M&A offering within the Infrastructure and Capital Projects (I&CP) team provides specialist corporate finance advice to institutional investors, power & utility companies as well as energy transition corporates. We are the trusted lead financial advisor in both sell-side and buy-side transactions across the UK. Benefiting from the wide Deloitte international network, we are also active in the cross-border transaction scene in the energy sector.

In Deloitte, we provide multi-disciplinary services to our clients and you will have the opportunity to work with people who are passionate about energy transition across different teams including debt advisory, financial and tax due diligence, and strategy consulting etc.

The Deloitte Infrastructure & Capital Projects team has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Director level candidate. The role will be focussed on M&A offering in relation to the energy and broader infrastructure sectors.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Advising our clients on a range of buy-side and sell-side transactions;
  • Leading the day-to-day management of transactions which includes preparation of information memoranda, management presentations, valuation analysis and taking responsibility for the preparation of information and client communications;
  • Responsibility for compliance related aspects of transactions;
  • Industry research for both deal origination and transaction analysis;
  • Leading marketing and business development opportunities;
  • Preparing / Reviewing financial analysis, including complex analysis and financial models;
  • Working effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution; and
  • Participating in team management roles such as coaching and training for junior team members.

Required technical skills and experience include:

  • M&A lead advisory with direct experience of managing transactions on a day-to-day basis;
  • Experience of working with private equity houses, infrastructure funds, as well as trade investors and SMEs in the energy sector;
  • Deal execution experience;
  • Ability to lead client relationships and interactions;
  • Experience of leading and developing a team;
  • Experience of working under an FCA regulatory environment (desirable);
  • An excellent understanding of the financial and commercial aspects of energy and wider infrastructure sector;
  • Experience of designing and building complex financial models;
  • Excellent drafting skills;
  • Education to degree level or equivalent; and
  • A recognised accountancy or relevant financial qualification (full or part qualified);

  • A logical and methodical approach to problem solving, with an ability to think laterally;
  • Excellent project management skills and an understanding of governance requirements and risks;

Infrastructure and Real Estate

Our Infrastructure and Real Estate team supports both public and private sector clients on complex infrastructure, real estate, and capital projects. Typical engagements include urban regeneration, transport, energy and renewables, and occupier advisory to central government and large corporate companies.

Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints (e.g., in relation to any financial interests and employment relationships). This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm, and also prohibitions on certain employment relationships (e.g., you are not permitted to hold a secondary employment role with SEC audit clients of the firm whilst being employed by the firm).
