Job overview

The Capital Projects Team has an opportunity for a Band 6 Assistant Capital Projects Manager on a 12 Months Secondment to support the delivery of a diverse range of complex and technical projects across the London Estate. The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team and assist in the management of capital, site infrastructure, repair, upgrade projects within clinical and non-clinical environment.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be technically qualified and experienced in project management with the desire to be involved in design development and improvement of building services infrastructure and fabric; they will be flexible, approachable, and a good communicator; they will be someone who wants to develop themselves in this challenging but rewarding role.

This is post would be suitable for a motivated and professional individual with a proven track record of delivering at pace with an exceptional eye for detail, willing to learn and with strong interpersonal and team working skills.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • HND/HNC/BTEC in engineering/construction/surveying/architectural/building field
  • Professional technical qualification or equivalent experience
  • Certified Project Management qualification
  • Prince2 or equivalent

Desirable criteria

  • Surveyor, Engineer/Architect

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Project management experience.
  • Either Mechanical, Electrical experience.
  • Expertise and experience in managing multiple complex projects simultaneously with multiple clients
  • Effective financial control
  • Project planning and management

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in managing capital schemes within NHS or Local Authority

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Working knowledge of CDM and H&S regulations
  • Working knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract

Desirable criteria

  • Contract Law (construction), CIM, CONCODE knowledge
