Role overview

The Assistant Business Development Manager will support the Business Development Manager in delivering growth across NHS and private pathways by building strong relationships with local referrers, coordinating marketing and engagement activity, supporting events, and analysing referral data trends.

This role acts as a key link between the service and the optometry and GP community across Lincolnshire. It combines relationship management, administration, marketing support, event coordination, and data insight to ensure Newmedica remains the provider of choice for referrers and patients.

The postholder will also supervise and support the Engagement Administrator, contributing to the smooth running of the Business Development function.

What skills and experience do I need?

Core Skills

  • Strong relationship building skills with optometrists, community partners, ICBs and internal clinical/operational teams.
  • Clear and professional communication, able to support presentations, referral pathway conversations, and business cases.
  • Confident analysing activity data, market trends, competitor insight, and KPI reports to support growth decisions.
  • Excellent organisation skills to coordinate events, outreach activity, and business development projects across multiple sites.

Experience

  • Experience supporting business development, community engagement, or operational improvement-ideally in healthcare, optical, or ophthalmology settings.
  • Exposure to referral management, pathway processes, or working with primary care/optometry networks.
  • Skilled in preparing reports, presentations, and tracking BD pipelines.
