Job Description

The Asset Manager acts on behalf of senior engineering leadership to ensure effective asset assurance and support Heathrow's overall strategy. The role focuses on the proactive integration of new assets throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with Heathrow standards and the capital investment programme. Responsibilities include maintaining visibility of maintenance delivery, asset condition, and availability, while collaborating with the asset performance team to maximise utilisation and enhance customer experience. The Asset Manager is also accountable for the integrity, performance, and condition of assets within their remit, and for supporting maintenance strategies that minimise operational disruption and costs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a dedicated asset management team across a defined asset portfolio, ensuring full lifecycle compliance and alignment with Heathrow's engineering and capital strategies.
  • Drive stakeholder and customer engagement to effectively manage and communicate changes to the asset base throughout all project and lifecycle phases.
  • Develop and maintain a robust Lifecycle Asset Model, delivering optimal asset replacement, refurbishment, and investment plans aligned with business needs.
  • Own the planning and budgeting process, securing approval for capital and operational expenditure and ensuring cost-effective delivery of the asset strategy.
  • Lead risk management efforts by identifying and mitigating risks related to asset performance, integrity, and condition to acceptable business levels.
  • Foster a high-performance culture, working collaboratively with engineering teams and stakeholders to embed continuous improvement and support the engineering change programme.
  • Ensure effective delivery of asset management processes, reporting to business standards and supporting performance, maintenance, and design improvements across functions.

Qualifications

  • Engineering based Qualification to degree level or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Broad based experience and knowledge working in an industrial Maintenance/Asset Management/FM environment - Preferably with specific Airport Asset/System knowledge.
  • Self-starter who can settle in fast and hit the ground running.
  • Excellent leadership and stakeholder management experience.
  • Flexible and capable across all aspects of asset management (Integrity, Performance, Condition) and across the full asset lifecycle.
  • Preferably with a ready established network across E&B and the wider HAL Operations team.
  • Proven track record of working with challenging stakeholders and customers (Internal and Airlines and Control Authorities)
  • Ability to manage a large workload efficiently and effectively and have excellent prioritisation and Judgment skills.
  • Process driven and compliant but also will challenge the status quo and ask WHY ?
  • Drive value every day from self and others - balance accurate, safe, and compliant with focus and pace when required - Challenge and remove waste wherever identified.
  • Understand and make balanced decisions based on Cost/Risk/Performance.

Working Location

Our Hybrid working approach offers the opportunity for colleagues in some roles to work from home for an average of two days a week, providing the flexibility to work in an agile way whilst ensuring we deliver for the operational needs of Heathrow. Working arrangements vary from team to team and will be confirmed during the recruitment process. You'll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
