About the role

Employed by London Borough of Camden, the Asset Lifecycle Manager will be based in North London Waste Authority (NLWA), serving Camden and six other north London boroughs that make up its membership.

As Asset Lifecycle Manager, you will lead major asset initiatives and disposals across the full lifecycle-from procurement to disposal-covering all Authority-owned assets, facilities, and land. Reporting to the Head of Strategic Asset Management, you'll play a key role in ensuring assets are effectively managed, maintained, and strategically positioned for future development.

You'll oversee complex, million-pound programmes/procurements, represent the Authority's asset strategy at senior committees, and operate with significant autonomy to drive value. The role involves managing capital budgets, approving project expenditures, and engaging with external stakeholders, including borough officers and councillors, to shape asset plans.

Key responsibilities include strategic planning, lifecycle and project management, financial oversight, and stakeholder engagement. You'll lead governance boards, coordinate large consultancy teams, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards. A strong focus on continuous improvement and innovation will be essential to enhance asset performance and deliver long-term value.

About You

You are a degree-qualified professional with a background in Technical, Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, related discipline, or have gained such technical experience through a previous role. You bring sufficient experience in asset and facilities management, with a proven track record of leading complex, high-value projects and programmes across multidisciplinary environments.

You have demonstrated expertise in procuring consultancy services, leveraging a robust understanding of public sector procurement regulations to secure compliance, value for money, and fair competition, while expertly managing diverse asset portfolios, including IT infrastructure, digital systems, and facilities equipment - to optimise asset lifecycle management and deliver measurable value.

Your expertise includes establishing and overseeing project governance structures, and you possess advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. You will be capable of producing clear and visually compelling Gantt charts, and adept at using Power BI to develop interactive dashboards that effectively communicate data insights.

You hold, or are working towards, a recognised qualification from the Institute of Asset Management (IAM) or an equivalent body. Additional credentials such as RICS or project management certifications like PRINCE2 or APM are considered advantageous.

With strong financial and analytical acumen, you excel in strategic planning and stakeholder engagement. Your ability to influence senior leaders, external partners, and cross-functional teams is exceptional, and you consistently demonstrate excellent communication and relationship management skills.

About North London Waste Authority (NLWA)

Our mission is to preserve resources and the environment for future generations by exemplary planning, innovation, and communication in managing north London's waste.

We serve two million residents in seven boroughs and run communications and engagement campaigns to help them reduce their rubbish and recycle more. We campaign for government and industry action to reduce unnecessary single-use items, encourage reuse and repair and promote effective recycling.

To helptackle the climate emergencyandtoprevent rubbish going to landfill, we are building the greenest Energy Recovery Facility in the country and modern recycling facilities at the Edmonton EcoPark, through the North London Heat and Power Project.

Working for NLWA

The post-holder will work for NLWA and be based at NLWA's office in Tottenham Hale but be employed by London Borough of Camden through whom NLWA staff are employed. The North London Heat and Power Project is located at Edmonton EcoPark.
