What are we looking for

We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Manager where you will support and lead your team in daily activities relating to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People. This position is seen as a position of significant responsibility and so should lead by example in following company policies and procedures. The successful candidate is also expected to make decisions within their department to meet the requirements of the business deliverables and to ensure the department is fit for purpose of the objectives set and able to flex with the growing needs of the business.

Responsible for co-ordinating and leading the assembly of container units along with the subassembly areas to support the builds of those units, from product release and into test. Along with preparing them for shipment where required. The role will manage all aspects for the mechanical and electrical build of the units using teams specialised in those areas.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure department meets or exceeds all expectations within aspects of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People set out in policies and procedures or objectives set by ITM Power.
  • Use KPI's to monitor and create reaction plans to ensure the departments are performing to the business needs.
  • Monitor the departments work load (capacity) to report on progress and risks along with mitigation plans.
  • Ensure staff are utilised and monitored for effectiveness to identify training and development needs.
  • Conduct regular communications when required and escalate any concerns as they arise with resolution plans when needed.
  • Create and deliver strategic plans to ensure the departments are operating at the most efficient level in line with business needs.
  • Review and present plans to deliver on-time and in-full and to the quality requirements to our customers.
  • Implement and drive kaizen activities e.g. 6S and ITM Production System - improvements within your department.
  • Take responsibility for all HR matters within the team with the support of HR.
  • Ensure the BMS system reflects operations within your area and ensure the teams are operating in line with it.
  • Managing the assembly area and teams across all shifts and disciplines in the areas of Main assembly, Skids and supporting sub processes
  • Using strong mechanical / electrical knowledge to support the team in issues/Kaizen activities arising during builds to find solutions.
  • Lead / Support in co-ordination of all on-site external suppliers, contractors, sub-contracted services required for supporting the product assembly.
  • Support manufacturing reviews for new / existing products, ensuring design for manufacturing.
  • Ensure generation of manufacturing procedures via process flow, FMEA and SOPs.
  • Review BOMs and route timings for the builds within your area, to ensure alignment of targets and achievements.

About You

Knowledge and Experience

  • 6S in the workplace
  • First Aid
  • Fire Marshall/Warden
  • Any other training deemed necessary for the role
  • A relevant qualification in Production, Lean Manufacturing or similar is preferred but not essential
  • Leadership and Management experience at a senior level within a manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with precision engineering and batch manufacturing of high value products
  • Management of production schedules
  • Experienced and strong understanding of mechanical and electrical assembly procedures in line with drawing instructions
  • Experienced in leading multiple teams across multiple shifts to achieved required SQCD
  • Competency with MRP systems - Understanding the use of MRP systems and interrogation for Bill of Materials, routings reviews and works order closure
  • Ability to lead and create FMEA for process within your area of responsibility
  • Stakeholder awareness/ ability to lead RA's and SOP to support your areas of responsibilities
