About Engage

Engage are a full-service sports marketing agency who, since 2012, have helped ambitious governing bodies, sports teams and sponsors become future fit. Operating in the UK, India, Australia and the US, we offer round the clock delivery to sports brands including the International Cricket Council (ICC), Real Madrid, Godolphin, New Zealand Rugby and Formula 1.

The Role

Engage are looking for a Head of Content to manage the content offering across the business. Working closely with Account Managers and Directors, they'll ensure Engage's output meets the highest creative standards, furthering the strategic goals of sporting clients. They'll play a significant role elevating the execution capabilities of the business - both for existing clients as well as ensuring the agency is proactively innovating and adapting to an ever-changing landscape.

The successful candidate will have a background working across teams that service large scale projects, with proven success delivering high levels of channel growth and engagement. This role requires someone who can demonstrate a strong creative understanding of social platforms, with experience shaping and implementing content strategy as well as launching and scaling channels successfully. A background in sport is beneficial, but not essential as we welcome ideas from other industries.

Engage produces a wide variety of video content spanning web, digital, TV and events including remote live formats, long form features, branded content as well as a variety of platform-specific short form video. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to lead and inspire this offering, and be expected to explore new ways to engage audiences via innovative executions.

The role will also be part of the Engage management team and will be involved in overall business strategy, supporting company objectives and ensuring governance and process are consistent. As part of the wider Brave Bison company, the position will also play a key role in spotting opportunities for strategic alliances and growth within Brave Bison and provide support to other business units when required.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee creative output from the content team to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, smoothly and to the Engage standard
  • Working closely with the other department heads to deliver industry leading creative products for current clients
  • Identify and implement procedural improvements to the day to day operation of the content / creative team to improve and develop the effectiveness of the team
  • Work with the Technical Director to keep across latest developments that may improve workflow, and to ensure team members have the tools they need to deliver their work
  • Work with the Operations Director to map out resource, understand P&L and calculate ROI on every bit of content produced by the team
  • Work closely with our insights and audience development teams to measure, manage, optimise and communicate the performance of the content put out by the team against the client objectives and KPIs
  • Manage workflow and ensure appropriate resources are available to expedite timely execution of digital social output, ensuring efficient use of resources at all times
  • Conduct research on the competitive environment and gather market data on emerging trends and technologies within the industry, using these to Implement new work practices, tools and processes, which enable the team to operate effectively
  • Managing and developing all members of the content team, ensuring a steady, gradual improvement in their professional skills and career development
  • Work within the Brave Bison structure to support wider company growth, and cross-collaboration

Key skills and knowledge:

  • 4+ years of experience at a management level, liaising with clients, managing teams tasked with delivering high quality content
  • A proven track record of delivery within a social digital environment, including experience of successfully running large complex digital projects in a fast paced social media environment
  • Solid technical background with ability to work with craft and technical experts to enhance processes and workflows and shape business view on kit requirements and areas to innovate
  • Proven experience of building, managing and developing a digital team and resourcing projects is required for this role
  • Ability to interpret and clearly present complex business strategies/ creative briefs received from clients concisely and persuasively to executives and key stakeholders
  • Ability to brief, produce and direct in order to get the best from shooters and editors
  • Comfortable working across the business and collaborating at all levels: experience client-facing and working with talent as well as leading production teams
  • Highly knowledgeable on current industry and social trends (YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok)
  • Knowledge of financial management and budget for projects as well as high business acumen and understanding of business plans, financial decision making and strategy
  • Highly relatable individual with the ability to engage easily with people and build strong and long lasting relationships
  • Experience in sports industry beneficial, but not essential
